Jldtaardsiitlle jUiglj School ifi dtoardsiitlU, Illinois 1As an expression of our gratitude for your faithful service, we proudly dedicate to you THE 1969 TIGER. To Mr. Eugene Little, EHS students are grateful for the service he has given. For many years he has advocated high standards and has stood firm in his efforts to give students a solid education in the business education area. To Mrs. Judy Gale, EHS students owe thanks for her untiring efforts to help the youth. We are especially grateful to her for her supervising of many extra-curricular activities and other projects. Her leadership and understanding will be missed by both the faculty and students.A TIME FOR LEARNING..................4-21 FOR LEADING..................22-39 FOR BEING....................40-53 FOR LIVING...................54-71 FOR COMPETING................72-89 FOR LISTENING................90-99 FOR BELONGING..............100-166 FOR REMEMBERING............167-188A TIME FOR LEARNING ...BOARD OF EDUCATION Row one: Herbert Brockmeier, Business Manager; Gary Coffee, Board President; A. Stuart. results.Baer (above) and Bradshaw (below) were the top ground gainers of the 68 season. The 68- 69 Tiger football season was less than satisfying for the Tigers. The Tigers sported a 2-6-1 record, although they did give coach Fuchs the best offensive night of his career at E.H.S. The Tigers scored 34 points in a see-saw battle with Granite City. They also reclaimed the traveling trophy for the second straight year against Granite City. If the Tigers can defeat the Warriors next year, the trophy will belong to Edwards-ville permanently. Players on next year's team can be optimistic about the '69-'70 season. Many underclassmen have received varsity experience which will help them to make the Tigers a formidable contender next year. VARSITY BASKETBALL B1U Schmidt, No. 30 Jerry Schwear, No. 20SOUTHWESTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS The '68-'69 varsity basketball season certainly proved the "season of the TIGER". Time and again the Tigers came through with the big victories, which led them to two tournament championships and the conference championship. Of the Tigers three regular season losses, one came in overtime, and another came without the services of senior starter Jerry Schwear. Twice during the regular season the Tigers hit for 100 points per game. The highlight of the season was the victory over Collinsville in the regional tournament. GYMNASTICS This was a year of surprises for Coach Shirley Barton's gymnastic team. The team finished the 1969 season with a good 7-3 won-lost record and a strong showing in the district meet. Leading the way were Don Braasch, Trey Mudge (trampoline) and Gene Levering (still rings). Braasch proved to be the team's "iron man." Juniors Bob Bertels and Tom Gatton contributed greatly to a winning cause. Sophomores Steve McBride, Jim Caulk, Robin Shaw, Larry Bundy, Dan Halbe, Kevin Autenreib, and Brent Baer also competed on the varsity squad. Coach Barton looks for a very strong team in the next two seasons with the help of these fine sophomores and experienced juniors.Top Row: Jim Halstead, George Wallace, Charles Renfro, Mike Glass, John Honchek’ Keith Greenlee, Rick Wilkinson, Doug Bishop, Middle Row: Mark Meier, Ron Relger, Mike Pine, Ron Voyles, Scott Aljets, Mike Leopold, Rick Hofeditz, Dennis Ray, David Fellhauer, Coach Warren Stahlhut. Scott and Tom ready for action. Youth has come to E.H.S. in the person of Varsity Wrestling Coach Warren "Babe" Stahlhut. After the '68-'69 season had begun, it became apparent that the young coach was inheriting a young team. Many of the varsity wrestlers were sophomores and juniors with no varsity experience. Nevertheless, with the help of seniors Scott Aljets and Tom Colley and junior Mike Freitag, the varsity squad salvaged a 4-8-2 record. Freitag won first place honors in the Granite City Invitational and the Conference Tournament.
