Mr. Alexander's duties are many, since he is not only gen- eral overseer ot all the public schools in Edwardsville, but principal of Iunior High School as well. Always with a friendly smile. he is well liked by all. D. R. BLODGETT Principal Regarded as one of the best school men in this district. Mr. Blodgett has kept our school running like a well-oiled, precision- built machine. Hs activities do not include this school only, for he is also a gpabfle secretary ot the Southwest: Wrence. ,MQW I. I. LOVE Vice Principal and Dean of Boys It can easily be said that to know Mr. Love is to like him. tor he has the admira- tion ol all the students, especially the boys. As sponsor of the Hi-Y Club, Mr. Love is well acquainted with boys' problems and thus is able to help man bo with their personal problem 1 6. ELSIE SLOAN Dean ol Girls At the head ol girls' activities in E.H.S. is a competent leader, Miss Sloan. BU HD UF EDUC!-ITIU Nat Pictured-MRS. I. F. GILLHHM The school board consists of seven non-paid citizens elected by the people to look after the business end of running our schools. This year saw the replacement of two retiring members Mrs. Handlon and Leonard Schwartz. In their place are two other competent members Mrs. Gillham and Dr. Wayne B. Cox. This year the board initiated many important improvements. the most important one being the new addition to our high school soon to be built. A In order to finance this new buiHing, the board found it necessary to induce the people to vote for higher taxes. This being done, plans for the building were drawn and soon a tine new building will stand where once were the drinking fountain and bicycle racks. Inside this addition will be the much-needed workshop for manual training, a general science laboratory, rooms for both instrumental and vocal music, a room for public speaking and dramatics, one for mechanical drawing, and other class rooms. Besides the new addition, the board improved our school by adding an Agricultural course and by adding several more teachers to assist in other courses. It goes without saying that the students of E.H.S. are grateful to the board members for the many improvements we have received this year.
