HARRY E. DENNIS PRINCIPAL l I am very happy to become associated with a school like Libbey High, because I feel that it is a school on the move. The opportunity to develop and to help in the further development of this institution present a genuine challenge. The students are wonderful - coop- erative and willing to accept the challenge to revitalize the spirit here at Libbey. I feel that, together, we can realize the fullest potential of our students and staff to make Libbey one of the finest high schools found any- where. Layton rapping on a victory. This yearis Freshman team showed lots of desire and team spirit. With a couple of breaks at crucial times the team could have won the Blue Division. After a 8-0 win over Waite, the Cowboys dropped a tough decision to St. Johns 14-0. The next week, at Cardinal Stritch, the Cowboys had to settle for a 14-14 tie after leading twice in the game. After a bad first quarter against St. Francis the Cowboys stopped the Knight attack, but could not get any points on the board, losing 14-0. In our next home game with Rogers, the Cowboys controlled the whole game. A penalty on the one foot mark kept them from scoring. Rogers scored in the last minute of the game to win 6-0. Revenge came at Bowsher, the Cowboys walked over the helpless Rebels 22-8. This gave them a 2-3-1 record in Blue Division play. In the season final, Whitmer was the opposition and got the victory 34-26. BOTTOM ROW: Greg Bentley. Tony Meccrio. Bill Roper. TOP: John Kajfasz, Chris Hamilton, Coach Hudson. This team possessed speed, size, and a great deal of basketball skills. They put all of those things together to compile a record of 13 wins vs. 5 losses and captured the city championship. They outscored their opposition 1,049 points to 699. We average 58.5 points per game to our opponents 38.1. A spread of over 20 points per game. The young men who played on this team can1l help but be successful in any- thing that they undertake. They are truly winners in every sense of the word. It was my pleasure to of had been able to coach such a fine group of young men. Libbey High has something to be proud of in these young men. h Coach Stewart e 149 Gary Ellis James Coleman Eurl Buckingham Tony Bouyer Greg Hopkins Ron Galloway Gary Shuler Victor Reed Lamont Frazier Rudy Strong David Osby Charles Gibson Get Down!
