Disaste
r struck the Cowboy Football Team as they suffered
through their worst season in recent years. After tying a state pow-
er QCuyahoga Fallsl with a score ofeighteen - eighteen, and easily
defeating
Start. eighteen-zip, the Cowboys proceeded to lose six
straight. The offense which at times, showed signs of greatness,
was constantly plagued by fumbles and penalties!

W All City First Team, Robert Lawson - All City Second Team
and Ron Davis, Jerry O'Neil, Leon Pearson with All City Honor-
able Mentions.

Coaches Jagodzinski and Kaifas have doubtful thoughts about the
game.
The Libbey .I.V. Team was small in size this year,
but very big in heart. They went into almost every
game as the smaller team but their desire to win
proved to be too much for their opponents to handle.
Coach Jagodzinski believes that if their desire and
determination stays with them in years to comeg he
will see a great future for them in football at Libbey.

Keeping with Libbey tradition cagers proved to be veritabse l S

accepted it in stride and went on to win the blue division title, Q , Q

BLUE DIVISION CHAMPIONS!! Once again, the young
Cowboys surged to superiority in the Blue Division. Balance
in scoring, speed, and rebounding strength accounted for a
fine record of I3 wins and 4 losses. Freshman pivot Allan
Chapman displayed tremendous rebounding strength and has
great potential. He received much help from Darryl Ham,
Ralph Bennett, and Ernest McClendon. Leading scorer Da-
vid Coley was assisted in the backcourt by Kenny Waters,
Tony Baccus, and Norm Reed. The team shows great poten-
tial for future basketball greatness at the varsity level.

The Girls Track Team started
their season out slowly. They lost
their first two meets to Rogers and

Blade Relays and City Meet. Gut
of fifty-six teams in the Blade Re-

Grapplers Have
A Trying Season
A complete wrestling team consists of 12 stylish
well-dressed men. Libbey does have style, but this year,
we lacked the 12 men. At the most this year, our wres-
tling team has consisted of 6 eligible young men. Emi
barrassment came about the majority of the season
because we could not produce the needed individuals.
We scored points at dual and triangular matches but
had to accept defeat, giving our opponents easy wins
due to a 36 point forfeiture penalty.

Baseball Team
Faces Tough Season
With a Sophomore-Junior dominated line-up, Libbey's Varsity
Baseball Team suffered through a disappointing 4 - ll season in
1971. During the season, however, there were many bright spots.
Tommy Meadows pitched a no-hitter as the Cowboys bombed Scott
13 - 0. Senior Tony Hague hit well over .500 in City League com-
petition. Ron Jeziorowski pitched a no-hitter against Macomber and
then beat Waite 5 - l in the last game of the season. In a three
game span, Ron pitched 19 of 21 innings Libbey played. Junior Jer-
ome Harris played steadily as catcher and hit over .300 in the city as
did Jim Valerius. Coach Cole and Coach Kaifas hope for much im-
provement this year with the nucleus of last year's team back this
spring.

Owens-Corning is Fiberglas
Fiberglas cord
is making
tracks.
These tough glass fibers from Owens-
Corning add safety and performance to tires
on most new Detroit cars. They form the
fabric that protects Apollo space suits
from temperature and fire.
And Fiberglas' reinforcements put
strength and durability into a majority of
pleasure-boat hulls built today. ln fact, it's
estimated there are more than 33,000 ways
Fiberglas materials can profitably replace
metals, wood or cloth. They're already in
many of these uses right now, moving
fast into others.
Your career could make tracks at
Owens-Corning too. There are hundreds of
opportunities. For information, write us:

BUSINESS
Sl'IUR'l'
You hear a lot of talk these days about the business world
being a pretty dull, humdrum place. Some say it offers no
really meaningful challenges. No opportunities for individual
expression. Law, medicine or the Peace Corps perhaps.
But not business.
Don't you believe it. American business today is a highly
demanding institution. With plenty of room for personal
contribution and growth. And if you feel strongly about man's
social responsibility-business offers a unique opportunity
for self-expression in this area, too.
Most likely you have further schooling ahead of you. But
that day of decision on your long-term future is coming
sooner than you realize. lf when it arrives you've
established a record of good grades and participation in
extracurricular activities-think seriously about the
rewards of a career in business-with us.
