We
The mood of a person can best be defined
As the quality of temper or state of the mind,
A union of the body, the mind and the soul,
So easily shifted, quite hard to control.
The mood here at Libbey has one warm effect,
A combining of loyalty, pride and respect,
The pride of the student who is loyal to allg
With respect for each other, Libbey stands tall.
A preparation to enter life's long weary road,
To conquer each hardship, to carry the load,
The satisfaction of learning, of making new friends
We'll remember and cherish 'till the day that life ends.
Four years of enjoyment, four years of life's best,
That road is awaiting, putting you to the test.
But always remember this short simple rule,
Step forward and say proudly. "Libbey'i' My Sched!"
The Many Moods of Libbey
SADNESS .....
Longing and yearning for someone who's left
Like a classmate who's Close, or a friend like "jeff"
S USPENSE .....
When we awaited results of a difficult test,
Aware that we hadn't really done our best.
CA IE TY .....
During Homecoming dance held in the gym,
-Blue and gold streamers-the lights down dim.
REFLE C TION .....
While we took time for self-evaluation
And indulged in dreams.
CONFIDENCE .....
What a change from that freshman-doubtful, unsure,
To the confident senior-prepared, secure.

JEFF HANCOCK, Clem of '69

Service with a smile!
Carol is a loyal Cowboy fan.
The Libbey mood will be one of regret when Mrs. Carol Com-
stock leaves her duties as Head Clerk-Treasurer in the olflce of
Libbey High School this summer. A product of our own Business
Department, she has served Libbey well for sixteen years.
Mrs. Comstock has worked with the principal, the faculty,
and the students with elhciency, patience, and consistent good hu-
mor. Witlx it all, she has maintained a personal dignity that has
earned everyones respect.
We are sorry to lose her but wish for her a bright future,

Constant innovation and improvement
in educational concepts and facilities mark
the administration of Mr. Frank Dick, Su-
perintendent of Toledo Public Schools.
Since his appointment in 1965, Mr. Dick
has initiated the expansion of the vocational
education program in all the city high
schools and the establishment of the "Lighted
Schoolhouse" program. Milestones during
his tenure include mergers of Adams Local
School District and the Spencer-Sharples
District with the Toledo public schoolsg
establishment of a Council of Instruction
for purposes of curriculum study and pos-
sible changeg appointment of a director of
urban affairsg and the study of the Middle
School concept of organization.
The use of his talents and energies does
not stop at the local level. Mr. Dick par-
ticipates in many state-wide programs and
is becoming a well-known name in educa-
tional circles.
Toledo can be sure that Mr. Frank Dick
will keep the educational institutions of this
city "on the move."

Mr. james Foltz, former Libbey Student
leader and football star, this year succeeded
Mr. Loy W. Rusie as principal at Libbey
High School. His appointment insures the
continued high quality of instruction and
administration Toledo has learned to expect.
For Mr. Foltz, it has been a year of ex-
perimentation ancl cautious innovation,
instituting changes in areas where improve-
ments can be made but being careful to
preserve the many fine traditions that make
Libbey unique. Wliile Mr. Rusie gave us
the familiar slogan, Libbey Lilian' Loyalty,
Mr. Foltz has added a slogan intrinsically
his own-Libbey I-Im' PRIDE.
Good things are happening at Libbey,
and the 1968 graduate looks forward to
ever-increasing pride when he says, "I
went to Libbey."
Mr. Foltz, you have our respect and best
wishes.

Each year the Student Council undertakes the responsi-.
bility of providing leadership and government for the Lib-
bey student body. This year was no exception. With the
capable assistance of Mrs. Dorothy Bonser and Mr. Willimn
Kistner, advisors, the Student Council was one of the, if
not zbe, most active and efficient of Libbey organizations.
The Student Council started the year by sponsoring
the Magazine Drive. A car-safety check was held in the
parking lot, with members of the Council testing cars, and
the WOHO "good guys" in attendance with the "Happy
Machine."
With the end of football season approaching, the Stu-
dent Council helped organize the Homecoming activities
and make decorations for the annual football banquet.
They again sponsored the very successful mid-term hop.
Students at Libbey can indeed be proud of their Stu-
dent Council.

No greater honor may be attained by a Libbey student than the privilege of becoming a member of the National Honor Society. Members are
chosen on the basis of scholarship, leadership, character, and service.
The society sponsored a program called the "Newlywed Game," with teachers acting as the newlyweds. Proceeds were used for scholarships,
Second semester, National Honor ,presented a panel of college students to an audience of Libbey students. The panel tried to give information
on all phases of college life. ln March, the induction program was held. juniors were elected to the society on the basis of scholastic achievement,
and new senior members were selected by vote of the faculty. Freshmen and sophomores of high scholastic standing were honored.
It is traditional that senior members of National Honor be rewarded with seats of honor on the stage at commencement exercises.

This year many changes have been made in the Libbey
yearbook, the Edelian. In addition to the obvious addition
of a long awaited color picture, a Senior index has been
included.
The staff held a bake sale in October and participated
in a roast with the Crystal staff. After publication, staff
members celebrated with a party.
Under the supervision of Mr. Charles Martin and Mrs.
jean Hunsaker, the staff, composed of seventeen seniors has
worked hard since September, making layouts, getting ads,
and meeting deadlines in order to present the Edelian to
their fellow classmates at the Senior Banquet.

Again this year, the Zet mascot, Zeke, presided over
all football games from his post on the hill. Members en-

tag sales, the Tri-Lit Roast and decorating the football field
for the Homecoming game.
Each Phil entered the Yuletide season with proper
spirit as they decorated the cafeteria, gave a Christmas bas-

ONGR T ILATIG
to the new graduates
As parents, neighbors, and friends
we naturally have a special interest in
the quality of our schools.
No community is better than its schools,
and no school is better than
the determination and willingness
of a community to support
standards high enough and broad enough
to meet tomorrow's levels of need,
both vocationally and for citizenship.

Today's classrooms furnish knowledge that will help
in tomorrow's world. That's why Toledo Edison
urges employees to improve their skills, abilities and
mental growth through company-sponsored educa-
tion and training programs such as:
EDUCATION ASSISTANCE PLANS
ADVANCED MANAGEMENT COURSES
FORENIANSHIP CLASSES
SPECIAL ON THE JOB TRAINING AND STUDY
But. we also encourage other people to continue
their education so they can qualify for increasingly
important jobs such as those at Toledo Edison.
