44118 CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 10148, seventeen small st rn f aced romgsters were drafted 1nto the Lnarmed forces of the Edson COUS011d3t9d School served our first year of bootcamp under Mas+e Sergeant Dorothy Evert The recruits were asfollows, Pr1vat s, Vrnalea Benne+t,Gail.Burk, Bennie Chambers, Joan Dallas, Kenneth Helton, Larrylhcks,Robert Meyer, Lesley Overholser, Russell Peg Mary Peter,Dennis Peters,PattyPh llips, George Robinson, Bonn1e Sieck, Betty Spomer, Donnle Weis, Pat Winderlin we decided that we liked bootcawp so well tha+ we would atfendit for seven more years Our second year was under Master Sergeant Vir ginia Chatfield Benn1e Chambers, Lesley Overholser ard Patty Phillips were transferred to another camp Wegained recrtits Joyce Neaderhiser, Gradie Johnson, and Dale House Our third, fourth and fifth years were under Sergeants Wave Duell Velma Larson and Leota Speicker we galned recruit Sharon Owens Jerry Chambers and Larry Hicks were transferred to another camo In the sixth and seventh years we were under Master Sergeamts Leota Spiecker and Leona Trueblood We ga1ned a new recruit V1rginia Cole Transferred to other camps were Joyce Neaderhiser, Pat Winderlin, Gail Burk, Jerry Chambers, and Gradle Johnson In our final year of bootcamp we graduated wlth recruits Ernalea Bennett, Virginia Cole, Bettv Spomer, Bonnie Sieca, Sharon Owens, Vary Peter, Dennls Peters, Donnle Wels, Kenneth Helton and George Roblnson After our flrst eight years we declded to make a career of it fh more years Hoopes We chose as officers Privates President vlTllO13 Cole, Vwce President George Robinson, Secretary Treasurer Denn1s Peters,Report er, Prnalea Bennett ve survived a day and n1vht of lnltiationtoprove we could he Privates we were than oromoted to Coporals As Corporals under the SLPSTVIS on of Magor Hoopes, we Ehppginted to office Corporals, President, Kenneth Helton, Vice President, Donnie Neis, Secretary, Dennis Peters, Treasurer, Sharon Owens and Reaporter, Virginia Cole we had to show our talents and present a Qnuest Play at Camp Sharon Springs We passed on to Sergeants with very good standing As Sergeants, under the supervision of Captains Nimz a nd Meir we had to see that all the recruits, privates and Ccrporals h a d enough sweets we made money doing this to have a Military Ball As theme we used 'Rendezvous of the Stars' To have such a fine yea r we had as officers, Sergeants, President, Dennis Peters, V1ce President, George Robinsong Secretary, Betty Spomer, and Treasurer, Virginia Cole Every one thought we did such a wonderful job as sergeants there was no quest ion but that we be promoted to Lieutenants As Lieutenants we got to initiate the Privates into our camp: we chose to lead us in the final year, Lieutenants, President, Sm-on Owens, Vice President, Betty Spomer, Secretary, Dennis Peters, Treasurer, Ken neth Helton We gained a new Liertenant, Bfrcn Freeman As we progressed through the year we planned our Lieutenant tr1p as our kt time trgsther We were then discharged from the unarmed services of Edson I-Bgx to make our way into the future , f - 5 ' , ' . fef3118 CLASS PRDPHECY On May 19, 1960, ten happy Seniors parted from the Edson unarmed forces to go into the large world to live a civilian life As we look into the future we see the year o 1985 approaching During these long 2Syea rs we have lost track of all cf our claasntes As we start out on our journey we go to Hilwaukeejlisconsin aa we have heard that Gene Gilliland ia still at the top of the Rock Island Rail road as chief dispatcher since he is the owner As we continue on our journey with Gene as guide, we meet Byron Freeman He finally met the girl of his dreams and married her We find out that it is Betty Spolaer our former classmate They now have two children Then we traveled to Great Bend, Indiana and as we entered the city, a big sign laid, 'Visit your Satellite Lark Distributor, Don Weis' Don finally married Jan and they have three children We think this is a nice small family We go to the great city of New York Tired of the journey, we de cided to rest in a night club Who should we find singing but Bonnie Sieck We had a wonderful visit with her after the show She informed us that Hrs Charles Adams ,formerly Sharon Owens, was modeling wcmen'a two piece bathing suits for Kenneth Helton, Manufacturing INC Kenneth As we boarded a XXXIV Satellite who should we meet but Virginia Cole, our stewardess .As we journey 1n the Satellite we discover George Robinson, the operator George is still unmarried to LaVonne and has a large famlly now of five children As George lands on the moon we find Doc CDennis Peters J trylng to tame the unknown A few days later as we pick up a paper we find that Dennis Peters has finally found the Fountain of Youth Now that we are all together we discuss our old school days and how the time has changed' Now as we part and we go back to our nornl life we think of Mr Hoopes trying to tame the underclassmen at Edson Consolidated School O K. is still afraid of the girls as he's still not married. . if 1 .
