English Humanities Emphasis on Communication TOP LEFT: Senior Traci Ball listens intensely to her English instructor. Art, Music, and English. In a weelds time, a student has three days of English, one day of art. and one day of music. The English Humanities class teaches students the basics, grammar and litera- ture. It also discusses the great authors and their styles of writing. In the Art Humanities class, teachers discuss with students value, texture, eye movement, and pattern. Then students apply these new techniques to paintings and different projects of their own, which they are assigned. In the Music Humanities class, students learn about famous composers and what influenced them. They listen to famous works and learn how music has changed over the centuries. Edsel Ford’s English Humanities pro- gram is designed to teach students about communication and how it’s related to art, music, and English. 22
