There are thirty-nine boys and thirty-nine girls. The most important event of the year for Freshman is decorating a float for the Home¬ coming. This year they won second with a float depicting, Sink the Hamilton Marines. Mr. Jerdonek, class advisor, was busy with the football team and asked Miss Pollock to help with the float. They worked on the float at Nickie Mohre ' s home. Nickie ' s pet goat, Muisance, tried to get into the action. While the Freshman were busy working on the float, Nuisance was busy working on the tail lights of Mr. Jer- donek ' s car and Miss Pollock ' s purse. Both were recoved before any real damage was done, but many Freshman will long remem¬ ber the helpful boost given by Nuisance. Freshman Class Officers are: FRONT ROW, Mel Lyons-President, Dave Blue-Vice- President. BACK ROW; Mark Blue-Treasurer, Nancy Long-Secretary. FRESHMAN: EAGER,

DEDICATION MRS. VIVIENNE WATERSTON MRS. FERN HEMENWAY Mrs. Fern Hemenway has taught a total of thirty-six years. Her career began in 1936 in a one room school house in Williams Center, Ohio. She had thirty students and taught all eight grades for one year. She then taught for two years, again all eight grades, at Union Corners Country School located north of Springlake Grange. Enjoying just one grade, fourth grade, she taught for twenty-five at Edon. When the schools were consolidated, into Edon- Northwest, she moved to third grade at the Morthwest building. She has taught there for the last seven years. Her students remember the special stories she used to read, and the beautiful decorations in her school room from her travels. Mrs. Hemenway, who loved teaching, will be remembered with love by many past, present and future graduates of Edon High School. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Bowling Green State University which took twenty-nine years to get. Mrs. Vivienne Waterston began her teaching career substituting at the historic Hay Jay School. She taught all eight grades, all subjects with janitorial duties. Moving to Morth¬ west School, she helped with an overflowing enrollment. After teaching second semester at Ainger School, Mrs. Waterston re¬ turned to Northwest to teach second and third grades, the year the new addition was built. Since then she has taught fourth grade at North¬ west for a total of twenty years of teaching. Students remember the programs she presented the Mothers Club, with each student having a part. She always took time to answer notes to her student papers and also allotted space on the new blacktop at Northwest School for each activity. Students also remember being required to eat at least two bites of each food on their tray when Mrs. Waterston had cafeteria duty and the cooks, knowing her dislike for peas, always gave her two spoonfuls when peas were served. Many students at Edon High School have fond memories of Mrs. Water¬ ston, lovelingly known as Mrs. Wet Rock.” Mrs. Waterston holds a two year Diploma from Bowling Green State University.
