Fun and Exercise in Sports SHOOTING HIGH is Sarah Cousar as Sonja Evans and Betty Jackson give a helping hand. This winter brought forth Edmondson's first girls' basketball team. Although they chalked up a record of 0-3, they showed continuous school spirit and good sportsmanship through every quarter. Forest Park was their first opponent. The key word in that game was ACTION. Many spills occurred in that rough and tumble contest. Forest Park took the game, but they didn't do it very easily. The next meeting with Carver was 45 x played away, but the fast pace marked it just as lively as the first. Even the next game with Southern showed that the girls still played a spirited game. Despite their many losses the girls played hard and fast, making a good showing on the basket- ball court. Next year they hope to do much better and come up with a few victories. GIRLS' BASKETBALL. Girls Find Whether to develop a good figure or just to have a good time, many girls turned out for after-school athletics. Fall sports for girls at Ed- mondson included badminton, speedball, and table tennis. This spring the girls tried their hands at archery as well as at tennis, softball, and speedball. The synchronized swimming group met throughout the year, perfecting their strokes and water ballet skills. 5
