Representing Edmond- Tu T i son were Herman Briscoe, Bill Brown, Roland Madison, and joe lNoodley. Certainly this season showed a bright future for wrestling at Edmond- son. Junior varsity swimmers under Coach Russ, f who also coached the varsity squad, gained valu- able experience and skills in 10 meets this season. Freestyler Dave Hayden and butterfly specialist lohn Maks gave the most outstanding perform- ances, but the rest of the squad did their best in every race. The record showed 3 wins and 7 losses for the .IV squad. Stiff competition pro- ' -- vided tense moments as many close scores were decided. 1 1 S s v i x Qtr 1 J . - s ' I i ,Z . Opening the season with victories over Doug- lass, Carver, and Southern, the natators then faltered against their strongest competition in the next seven frays to end their season with a 3-7 log. Gary Mason, backstroke star, scored the highest number of tallies, with Bill Howard second. Diving was a strong point this year, with Lee Brown and Harold Schwab teaming up to com- pile an impressive amount of points. Brown scored 43.4 points against MSA Champs St. joe for an Edmondson first to highlight the season. As expected, a great St. Joe team copped all but two events in the MSA competition trials at Mervog Poly was victorious in the others. Ed- mondson entered several of these events, but was not able to come close to its rivals. The team is looking forward to improving its record next year, but will miss Captain Bill Howard who will be graduated. GOOD FORM IS DISPLAYED by Bill Howard as he takes ofl for the 30 yard freestyle. Fislimen llPool Resources EDMONDSOIVS FIRST VARSITY SYVIMMERS. Harriers Vie in Varsity Edn:1ondson's first varsity track team, under the supervision of Coach Elliott and assisted by Coach Ron Siegert, got off to a flying start with victories over McDonogh and Mervo Tech on the Indians' oval. Each meet was decided by an overwhelming score. In spite of the soft condition of the track, good times were recorded in both meets. This was the result of hard work on the part of all involved. The squad, bolstered by a goodly number of veterans, stands as a threat to their opponents. A successful season appears to be in store for the varsity harriers this season. Strong points of the team are in the dashes, relay team, and high jump. Leading jumper for the squad is Bill Howard who also runs hurdles and pole-vaults. OFF AND RUNNING are Bredenherg, Kittel, Blow, and R. Cunningham. x Jf 0 ...L - X l .I , i . I X ' ff ,ctw AW 1 A f- tx ,A 1, V .v,,. -1. In s L I ' ,.,- , ,-,. ls' A R- x r! ,, .vin-14., 5 .
