Row Three-Richard jones, Ed Taylor, Bob Gordon, jerry Reese, Rick Johnson, Mr. Elliott. Rafferty Paces First Varsity Paced by 5'7 .lim Rafferty, Edmondson's first varsity quintet made a more impressive showing than the record indicates. The tribe's only two league victories came at the expense of last place Forest Park. The outstanding tilts of the season were with the Loyola Dons and the Carver Cubs. Nearing the end of the game at Carver, the Redskins were down by one. With four remain- ing seconds, jim Rafferty came close to pulling the game out of the fire with one of his deadly set shots. In the Loyola tilt the Redmen over- came a 13 point deficit in the third quarter to come within one point of tying the defending MSA champions. In the end, the Dons pulled it out by a 64-56 score. The Redmen defeated three of their non- league opponents: Boys Latin, Mervo, and Gil- man. Earl Miller tallied a record high of 29 points against Gilman to lead the Tribe. Jim Rafferty led the squad with 258 points for the year and ended the season with a 14.3 point average. EARL MlLLER'S JUMP SHOT is nearly blocked in the Howard High contest as Redmen jerry Reese and Jim Rafferty look on.

Fresh-Soph Claim Best Record, U 5 - 1 Q ,, pq g K K lx Q STL 3... 4 The JV and fresh-soph cage teams both finished with winning records. The junior varsity coached by Mr. George Kimmitt, posted an overall season record of 10-8. Paced by Cap- tain Walt Downey who led the quintet with 139 points, the tribe stayed consistently among the .500 mark. They came into their own in the final fray against Forest Park by dropping the Green and Gray 51-32, This score was the highest total an Edmondson JV team has ever scored. Under the mentorship of Mr. William Mulli- neaux the Freshman-Sophomore squad dumped 8 of their opponents against 4 defeats. The main- stay of the team was H. Green, leading scorer and rebounder. One of the most well-rounded squads at Edmondson, the fresh-soph claims the best record of all the winter athletic teams. FRESH-SOPH BASKETBALL.
