Pushers of buttons and pullers of levers were very important at Edmondson. They were mem- bers of the Stage Crew and the Projection Squad. Assemblies wouldn't have been possible without the assistance of Mr. Clayman and the eight boys of the Stage Crew who were responsible for the lighting, stage setting, and sound. They could operate the many controls back stage while keep- ing. one eye on the script and another on the action. Mr. Gibson's Projection Squad stored, deliv- ered, operated, and kept in good condition the projectors and films that helped teachers make subject matter more interesting and understand- able to their students. IVait for the bell, please, were the familiar words which greeted early morning arrivals as fifty busy monitors performed jobs assigned to them by the Student Council of which they are 11 branch. Assisting orderly How of trafhc through- out the building, the Monitors' major aim was guiding the students of Edmondson to an accept- ance of their responsibilities as school citizens. The United Nations Youth Club spurred the trick-or-treat drive which netted over five hun- dred dollars for UNICEF. Club members, along with others from the student body, attended UN seminars and participated in the discussion of the topic Can the United States Win the Eco- nomic War? In celebration of UN Day, the club, introducing students from Germany, Lith- uania, Turkey, Estonia, and Greece, presented a very colorful assembly which featured flags of countries in the UN, an inspiring talk by a guest speaker, and a lilm of Danny Kaye's good-will tours among foreign children. 61 pgnvvprzur I X, ph, s

Combining an understanding of mechanics with a sense of responsibility, our boys helped others and enjoyed doing it. Assigning lockers to every student and maintaining an accurate cross file on the entire student body were the main purposes of the locker crew. Mr. Vlooden and the crew use this file of three sets of informa- tion cards to enable students to keep the same lockers as long as they are enrolled at Edmond- son. Under the direction of Mr. Thomas Davis, the brains and brawn bovs of the Auto Club tried to learn the responsibility of driving on today's crowded highways. The eighteen enthusiastic members also learned the functions of automo- bile parts and studied safe driving practices. Headed by their president, Lee jones, the mem- bers were guided through a local auto shop to see how professional mechanics operate modern machinery. Formed last October, the club is look- ing for a program which can benefit our school T as well as the members. The new addition to the school will contain an auto shop which will provide more space and equipment for the club in their quest for experience with automobiles.
