Eyes and Ears For the second consecutive year, the Eagle editors were busy at work in the Publications Ofhce weeks before school otlicially opened in September. As a result, a complimentary copy of the newspaper reached each student during the first week, informatively paving the way to a new semester. ' In 1959, as in 1958, the Engle walked off with a first place award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. The Eagle staff, bolstered this year by the journalism class, burned midnight oil several days a week before sending each bi-weekly paper to the printer. On February 14, the Eagle published a special Valentine Day issue of the newspaper. Also in February, during the Brotherhood Assembly, the Eagle received recognition for outstanding writ- ing on Brotherhood last year. On April ll, six staff members participated in the Maryland Scho- lastic Press Association Contest held at Glen Burnie, Maryland. The year came to a climax with the second Annual Publications Banquet staged in the EHS cafeteria.
