Our Country was born in the midst of turmoil
discouraged were the patriots who settled on her lands.
They sought personal fret-dom
lor worship,
for speech,
for living in a new way.
Let us celebrate their boldness.
for our freedom was in their hands.
Freedom is a word taken for granted todav
D , .' 7
hut Washington and ,lel'ferson, great leaders of our nation
Knew freedom had a prii'e--
loss of wealth,
years of strife,
lives of men.
Still they fought with valor
for our freedom, not for adoration.
As future leaders of our country,
ever striving for liberty is a must.
We assume the responsibility
for electing good leaders
avoiding corruption from
within
continuing in our motto.
We are great, not of ourselves, but because
'GIN GOD WE TRUST."

We
Believe . . .
This year's seniors, because we are the
class of 1976 fthe year of Amerit-a's bi-
centennialj are remembering the strug-
gle of our ancestors to mold our future.
We believe in our country and its
heritage. As we look at the past and pres-
ent, let us also look toward the future.
May we work to make our beliefs
realities, so that our descendents may
also respect America and its ideals in the
years to come.

The 1976 edition ofthe BULLDOG properly spotlights our countIy's bicentennial
anniversary. We are privileged to live in the oldest continuous democracy in the
world, and we are also fortunate to have the oldest public school system. The develop-
ment of our country has been paralleled by the development of a free universal
system of education. An enlightened electorate is essential if we are to continue our
democratic form of government.
We hope you have developed a thirst for learning that will continue long after your
formal education is completed at Edmond High School. The record of this year's ac-
tivities as portrayed in the BULLDOG will become more cherished with the passage of
time. We are confident in your ability to perpetuate the founding principles of
equality, justice and dignity for all as we begin our third century as a democracy.

Dr. Bill E. Martin
Principal
It is appropriate that the 1976 edition ofthe BULLDOG reflects the
spirit of our Country's bicentennial year. The BULLDOG Staff along
with their sponsor, Mrs. Harden, are commended for the uniqueness
of this year's annual. I trust that their effort will be appreciated by all
of us.
A purpose of the high school annual is to record by picture and
word the events of the year and to preserve, for the future, our memo-
ries of bygone days. Another important purpose ofthe annual is that it
reflects the character and pride of the students and the school it repre-
sents.
It is a source of personal satisfaction and pride to be a part of Ed-
mond Memorial High School and to be associated with students and
faculty who believe in and practice the values of a democratic society.
As we strive toward the fulfillment of our dreams and aspirations,
let us be ever mindful ofthe source from which all our blessings come.
Sincerely,
Bill E. Martin
