I have presided over all their activities, allowing my light to direct them and my warmth to comfort them. I stand by in the glory of success and in the despair of failure, always waiting for others to take me up and rekindle my flame. I am forever ready to serve that school which I represent and those whose outstretched hands be- seech that I should once again glow brightly. I am the strength and the hope of a school whose students have added to my power year after year until I have become the most brilliant flame of all.

The closed windows of the new wing show those people outside that the air-conditioning is on. 4 The many stairways of Edison are traveled numerous times daily by energetic students in their pursuit of knowledge. Edison students take Since 1955, when Edison Junior High was opened, and 1957, when the senior high was formally dedicated, Edison has become a school of unprecedented accomplishments. ln its twelfth year, the total enrollment was 3,067. The addi- tion of a twenty-five room wing has provided students with an opportunity to prepare themselves for further education. In addition to this academic expansion, Edison's beautiful forty-acre campus has provided the location for many ac- tivities-civic, athletic, and cultural. Because of its excel- lent facilities and its students, outstanding performance, Edison has become a leader in the community. The dark green hue of the evergreen trees makes a beautiful contrast with the buff brick of Edison High School all the year 'round.
