Our principal, Mr. Lewis Cleveland, is a familiar figure in the halls and classrooms of Edison. Much more than an able administrator, he is deeply concerned with students as individ- uals. He is always receptive to new ideas and is willing to experiment with new methods and techniques, if they seem likely to improve the educative processes of Edison. His years as prin- cipal have been years of progress for the school, and Edison has gained national recognition for academic achievement. Mr. Cleveland is a prominent figure in com- munity affairs, having served as vice-president of the Southside Rotary Club and as president of the Secondary School Principals, Association. A member of Phi Delta Kappa, he has been an active participant in the work of the Oklahoma Education Association and the National Educa- tion Association. His leadership abilities have been recognized by his church, which he has served in many capacities. As a good citizen, lVlr. Cleveland ranks high, because he accepts respon- sibility and performs admirably. Students at Edison recognize Mr. Cleveland as a genuine friend. His belief in freedom with responsibilities has produced an atmosphere con- ducive to development of true democratic con- cepts. We at Edison strongly believe lVlr. Cleveland has more than earned the deep respect we offer him. We may say of our principal what he, with great pride, has so often said of us: that he, in every sense of the word, is 'tanother Edison cfirstif, Our principal willingly counsels several senior boys. Always behind Mr. Cleveland is his staunchest supporter, his wife, Elizabeth. .
