A Senior's Reflections . .. From my freshman perspective, an eternity of high school loomed ahead to be filled with the attainment of knowledge and foundations for memories. As the clouds in my mind began to clear, my recollections took on a definite form, summer ap- proached, and suddenly I was no longer labelled frosh”. The dawn of my sophomore year brought new horizons to light. Our class from junior high was reunited ... we were able to battle the upperclassmen for room in the halls and seats in the cafeteria ... we broke all precedents by holding an informal class dance ... skateboarding was a common sight on sidewalks all over Edison, and not uncommon in the halls of E.T.H.S. ... the new wing was officially opened and the girls finally had gym classes alone. Almost before I realized it, exams were over and I was an upperclassman! Assuming my lofty position of Junior, I found myself advis- ing those unfortunate beings known as underclassmen ... the I.B.M. system was announced, and confusion reigned once more ... the Halloween dance was made memorable by the Juniors’ possession of the circle ... play night regally de- scended and profits rolled in from three performances ... our long-awaited rings arrived in time for Easter vacation ... our first real worries about plans after graduation were introduced by anxious guidance counselors ... I waited with mixed emo- tions, prom night came along ... soon afterwards, senior year was upon me. The summer was shorter than usual. The new year came to an official beginning when the Juniors stood for us at assembly ... the time for yearbook pictures rapidly approached . .. football season was in full swing, and excitement mounted for our first game with J.P.S. ... for the first time in the history of E.T.H.S., the seniors took over the school for a day ... the traditional tree in the lobby officially marked our last Christmas season at Edison . .. college acceptances and job placements were announced, to the many hopeful seniors ... spring was introduced in style with the A Cappclla Choir robed at last ... Before I had time to think about it, Prom weekend was over, our last finals taken, and Class Night '67 arrived. As I reflect upon the shortest and busiest years of my life, I am filled with pride and happiness, yet still a touch of sadness. I am surrounded by the many acquaintances and friends with whom I have shared so many happy days, and I am grateful for the memories that they provide. And I look to the future, in which my sea of memories will have an opportunity to expand and flourish. 15
