In 1948 our community saw the first football game to be played at Edison. This was an event they had looked forward to for a long time. The team was inexperienced; most of them had never played football before. Coach “Bras”, a first year football coach, taught the boys everything they know about the game. Even though their record was not very commendable, their spirits were high; they never gave up until the whistle blew for the end of the game. During the season, Edison played some rough and tough teams who had had years of experience behind them. One victory, a win over Griffith, was the high spot of the season. Both experience and maturity will be in our favor when we hold that line in ‘49.
