S the sculptor studies a
formless mass of stone, so did
the staff view the project they
set out to accomplish. After
much hacking, considerable J
moulding, and some polishing,
the finished product stands on
exhibit for all to heed.

presidenfs message
OU have in your hands a record of the events of
the past college year Which will continue in in-
terest and value in the future. Your staff is to be
commended for their diligence in preparation of this
edition of the Conneautteean. For the seniors this is
the last and most important volume. As they look
backward on their undergraduate days we hope there
will be satisfaction and appreciation with the efforts
made by the college faculty, the Department of Public
Instruction and any other agency contributing to their
education for teaching. For those who return next
September may this record be the source of a deter-
mination to realize more fully the objectives of per-
sonal growth and development as well as in vocational
proficiency.

CXHE Edinboro Band under the direction of David Borst, and the Majorettes
under the leadership of Sally Hollingshead and Barbara Lawson performed
at every home football game. They put on an excellent Homecoming Day exhi-
bition and added color and enthusiasm to pep-rallies, snake dances and special
assembly programs. The excursion of the year was a trip to Greenville where
they performed in Thiel's Homecoming Parade. Climaxing the musical
program for the second semester was the spring concert.

1 HE Dramatics Club is open to all students. Its members gain valuable experience in all
phases of the theatre. Although the cast usually receives most of the credit, the ones in
charge of lighting, make-up, costumes, publicity, and the stage crew are important for a success-
ful production.
The thespians presented as their first semester project Moliere's highly amusing comedy, "Le
Bourgeois Gentilhommen, translated, "The Would Be Gentleman," under the direction of Mr.
Lawrence Vincent.
The spring project was the presentation of Shakespeare's classic comedy, "The Taming of the
Shrew."
By accumulating points through participation in club activities members become eligible for
initiation into Alpha Psi Omega, a national dramatics fraternity.

HE Korean War hit ESTC when CoachVJ im Reed was called back into the
I Navy. Coming to the fore as his replacement was a four year letterman,
Bob Malarkey, who turned out a tough, aggressive, and well-conditioned team,
with a record of 4 wins and 3 losses.
Edinboro students viewed for the last time such outstanding matmen as
Bill Starr, Ray Bronzie, Lou De Rubies, Don Malarkey, Jack Senic, and Don
Kemiy. Each of these men compiled commendable records in his four years
on the mats.
Seniors Don Paulson and Dick Dixon wrestled their first year in varsity
competition. Eddie Klavon, a three year man, will return as backbone of
future squads along with Dick De Luca, an outstanding freshman who was un-
defeated.
