The lirst dance ol' the year, the "Finn-Ball", was sponsored by Student Council. During the football games our members sold refreshments from the new snack bar at the field. Student Coucil began two new ideas this year, the first ol' which was the W. E. D. drive held in the borough by its members. A combined charities drive was held early inthe year, and the money was divided between two charities, the United Fund and the March ol' Dimes. This year a very helpful course in baby sitting was taught to the girls by Mrs. Gillespie and Mrs. Huber. In May, a special tea, held for the mothers, closed very successful year for our jr. Y-Teen branch of the YWCA. The Music Club, one ol' the largest organizations in the school, boasts a membership of 120 students. To become a member ol this club, one must either take chorus or play in the band or orchestra. Philip Roberts, president, and Miss Garland, faculty advisor, have succeeded in promoting among the students a greater appreciation of music. ln january an interesting film describing the Ham- mond Organ was presented. The maroon and white clad choir. under the direction of Miss Garland, has become a familiar sight to all. At Christmas time the halls of Edgewood echoed with the traditional carols. as the choir members serenaded the student during 5th period. The actual Christmas vacation was ushered in by the annual a Cappella assembly program, Participation of the choir in the Pennsylvania Mu- sic and Forensic League contest was one ofthe big- gest undertakings of the year.
