So at the beginning of the sec- ond term Miss Anna Mae Boerner grad- uate of Milvviukee State College took over the music department with little trouble. In addition to the work with the chor- uses Miss Boerner worked very hard with the solos and ensembles which went to the solo tournament in White- xx ater on May Z9. The entries consisted of one trio 'five duets and six solos. The results were two firsts, eight seconds, and two thirds. Miss Ruth Bergh took charge the first semester but because of ill health was forced to leave at the end of January. The new semestei saw a new face on the podium that of Miss Anna Mae Boerner. The Christmas concert on December 20th this year centered around German and Norwegian carols as well as Ameri- can. This was thought very appropriate because of the nationalities of the com- munity The program was combined with the lower grades singing and danc- ing and the upper grades singing the well-known and lox ed carols. Numbers sung by the girls chorus w ere Angels We Have Heard on High Noel, Noel, and Three Wise Men. Thc different high school chorus sang religious songs of the season as well as some of which contained the Christmas spirit The choirsters wore daik skirts with white blouses and which proved very effective. At the start of the second semester, they became acquainted with the new music teacher who worked with them on then festival numbers. The girls entered in Class B for the Band and Choral Tournament at Whitewater which was held May 17. lhey sang little David Play On Your Harp Heard a Forest Priying and Were You There?" The latter contained a solo sung by Sonja Houfe. These songs were also sung at the spring concert which was held on April 29th Graduating from the girls chorus this year will bc six first sopranos and one second soprano.
