RALPH W PETERSON-RAYMOND WILEMAN-EARL VINEY- DONALD SKAU MORTIMER LESTER CARRIER, Jr. genial: Ufficmfik 7HE CLASS of 1940 entered Edgerton High School in the fall of 1936, endowed with a school spirit and a wholehearted interest in school activities which increased as its school days progressed and reached its height in the year of graduation. L Our freshman and sophomore days were not especially notable for achievement. The class members, however, were establishing themselves in all school activities and preparing for active leadership in their organi- zations. During those first two years, as well as the last two, the class of 1940 invariably came out on top in all competition between classes in contests involving such school aiairs as S. A. A. memberships, ticket sales, Good- fellows club, and subscriptions to school publications. This record is indica- tive of the class' school spirit, and is a record which may be pointed at with justifiable pride. The busiest days of our Junior year were the weeks ,prior to the Junior Prom. Before attending the Prom, the members of the Junior and Senior Classes sat dawn to an excellent banquet prepared and served by the Band Mothers. The gym was decorated in a modern theme. This Junior year showed our class to be an enterprising organization. The class acquired a nickelodeon and sponsored all-school Social Hours. As well as providing enjoyment for the student body, the venture proved itself profit- able to the class. W ' Our senior year saw the class reach its height as it assumed the reins and responsibilities of leadership in the student body. Among the major undertakings of the class as Seniors was the class play, Booth Tarkington's Seventeen . This production showed the versatility and talent of the class. As the days of Commencement approach, we look back on our days here with respect for the faculty and good wishes forour successors. .. ,.,., .........:.gl. , , , , ,.i . .' ii ..,J.,.n, ..
