The A.F.S.'ers from Edgemont also got to see some of the out- side world visiting Cape Cod and Upstate New York. I .There were also various A.F.S. weekends thatienabled local A.F.S. students to meet and get to know each other. The junior and senior years of some rural, Southern Black students are greatly changed by their coming to school at Edgemont. lt is a chance for growth through a changed atmosphere, often opening up new horizons for the student. In order to raise money the S.T.E.P. kids will work through S.E.S., donating the moneymade to S.T.E.P. Out of S.T.E.P.'s concern for the isolation often felt by a person found in new surroundings, grewthe Newcomers' Club.
