Coach Tom Blank led the team to a 4-7- 2 record with victories over Blessed Sacrement, Fordham Prep, Valhalla, and Tuckahoe. Third year wrestlers Allen Chao and Michael Goldstoff helped guide the team through the rough second half of the season after the team compiled an earlier record of 3-1-2. The team met a series of disappointments, however, including a late season injury to junior Igor Lamser in his first match after returning from a different injury. Despite the disappointments the team managed to keep a hopeful attitude during the season. 162

Gymnastics This year's Gymnastics team was the best Edgemont has ever seen. It was the first time that they were League Champs iundefeated in their league! and the first time that any Edgemont gymnast qualified for the States. The team was ranked third in the Divisionals out of eleven teams. The league record was 7-0 and the overall record was 8-2. The team captains were seniors Helen Wilson and Marci Gonzalez, who have been with the team since the first competition. Helen received All-League Honorable Mention and competed in Divisionals on the uneven bars. Marci was All-League and competed in Divisionals as an all-around gymnast. She then went into Sectionals where she won third in vaulting entitling her to compete in the State. Eve Brody always performed a beautiful beam routine. Other excellent gymnasts are sophomore Brenda Burns and freshman Carrie Hatta. Brenda was All-League and second all-around gymnast in Divisionals which enabled her for Sectional competition. Carrie, an All-League gymnast, scored high in every event, particularly on beam and floor. She too, went from Divisionals to States. In addition to talented gymnasts, the team had an excellent coach. Gail Hildebrandt demanded hard work yet allowed for fun and games. The team was young and strong and despite the loss of Miss Hildebrandt and Helen and Marci, it should continue to be outstanding next year. 1 Row 1: M. Gonzalez, H. Wilson. Row 2: E. loerg, L.
