With this gap left to fill, Coach Hogan's team finished with a disappointing 1-9 record. The ball handlers for the squad were Brian Lang and jon Spitz. The forward ranks were led by Peter Lindau, jon Flower and spot starter, Ricky Wortman, The two big men were centers Eric Lynn and Steve Sklar. These two, along with Flower, led the squad in the scoring and rebounding departments. 159

Gluckman, M. Davidoff, A. Glickman. C D-L. The l.V. Basketball team, labelled by many as the most talented l.V. ever at Edgemont, concluded the season with a very disappointing 8-9 record. The Panthers, after an horrendous start, finally put something together, as they won six out of the last nine games. The team's troubles ranged from pure over-confidence to having one or two starters out of the lineup for a number of games. Playing time, for the most part, rested in the hands of the five starters: Deece Hannigan i15.5 gpg, 4.2 rpgi, P.j. Cosgrove i8.6 ppg, 5.6 rpgi, and lon Libman i10.5 ppg, 1.3 rpgi. Cosgrove also led the team in steals with 31, and Libman led the assists department with 67, and foul shooting percentage with a relatively low 67'V0. in fact, in many of the close games it was the team's overall foul shooting that hurt them. The team percentage was only 52 !0. Mike Rosen and lon Lewis also saw fairly substantial playing time. The highlight of the season was against Hastings when the team scored 78 points, setting a new l.V. scoring record. As for next year, the five starters on l.V. all look to either start or be in a sixth or seventh man role on next year's varsity. Ns This year the Girls' Varsity Basketball team, coached by Mr. Robert Rossano, finished the season with a 6-7 record. Co-captains Linda Martello and Nanette Keating played both strong offensive and defensive games. Martello, high scorer of the team, averaged twelve points per game with consistently good rebounding and aggressive playing. Keating contributed excellent free throw shooting and position versatility. Other fine players were junior Lucy Ahlert and sophomores Robin Husney and Michelle Alpert. Coach Rossano referred to this year as a building year and expects tremendous improvement next season. 160 gigfff . ':.'.H .3v
