:4 -. " ' ' I-vi X p- T JA 22 ' ! I f To the Students ---- To capture some of the spirit and feeling that have been with us during our school days has been the main purpose in our minds as we have prepared the '59 Bulldog for you. This year was one in which you came to school and gathered around the building in various little groups while you talked about the latest Bridgette Bardot movieg where a firecracker could be placed to make the loudest reportg or, that glorious day when you would take off on the long-dreamed-of trip to New Orleans. There have been some significant happenings that will be remembered more than others---the wild slumber party after the last home game---the Sophomore's winning the Halloween Carnival---November 29, when 17 brand new letter jackets were awarded--- basketball, with "La Bamba" blaring over the loudspeaker during practice---the Cheshire cat smiles of the girls after beating Paint Rock! We hope that you will findwhatwe have strived to put into this book---the story of your school dayslof '58-'59. The officers of the '59 graduating class---President--Linda Colleyg h t Arlene Spann' and Historians-- Secretary--Linda Sandersg Treasurer--Sue Smit 5 Repor er-- , Carolyn Bunger, Dorothy Brewer, and Virginia Evans---make a stately picture as they proudly show us the ring they will never forget. Being the smallestin highschool, only in size, the Seniors of '58 Lf '59 have finally reached the summit of their goal, but without the guidance and advice of their sponsor, Mrs. Bill Brown, they could never have obtained this goal. As a money-making project for that long-awaited Senior trip that was spent in the gay city of New Orleans, the Seniors sold over S700 in mag- azine subscriptions. The high-lights of their year were the Junior-Senior Banquet and their Senior Play, "In Case of Murder," which theywill long cherishas some of their dearest mem- ories throughout life. The class colors are blue and silver, and a blue carnation is the class on their raduation night. flower. "Graduation Day" is the class song which the Seniors sang g JU ICDRS .. , . -, Mgwf. This was the big year for the Juniors for they finally got those long dreamed of Senior rings, and four girls' dreams came true when they were chosen as the '59 Bulldog Cheer- leaders at the annual Football Banquet. Other highlights of the year were the Junior Play and thatwonderful Junior-Senior Banquet which they gave with the helping hand of their sponsor, Mrs. Jack Jones. D The Freshmen seemed lost this year in high school, but this is normal for all Freshmen. Highlights of the Freshman boys were going through the belt line the first week of school, wearing girls' bathing suits on chapel, and having to polish all of those football shoes. The girls will remember Freshman initiation when they had to wear tow sacks , bluejeans turned wrong side out, and flour and water in their hair . Oh! Those poor Freshmen! The class colors are yellow and black, anda yellow rose is their flower. Their classimust have seen the movie "The Giant" because for their class song they chose "Yellow Rose oi Texas." ,qv , .
