Echo High School Band The High School Band, under the direction of Mr. Garrett, has given and taken part in three concerts this year. On December 20, a program consisting of Christmas music was played. Two concerts were given the 4th and 5th of February in which three school bands, Umatilla. Athena, and Echo participated. In April, the band attended the Annual Music Festival held at La Grande. The Advanced Grade School students play with the band during the year. In the Clarinet Section there are Russell Sloop, Carol Ann Ottum, Kathleen Follett, Alice Terry. Karen Valentine, Jennifer Chapin, Deanna Standfer, Ellen Rees. In the Saxophone Section there are Larry Campbell, Vanyla Wilson, Betty Correa, Norman Wilkerson. and Barbara Andrews. In the Trombone and Baritone Section there are Shirley Myers, Butch Smith, Gail Madison. In the Bass Section, Joyce Sather and Martin Hibbs. In the Horn Section, Milton Mercer, Charles Myers, and Jo Ann Winn. In the Cornet Section there are Jeanne Ramos, Janet Myers, Leslie Laughlin, and Judy Shouse. In the Drum Section, Marilyn Wilson, Carlene Rhea, and Darrylin Fife.

Debate Class In this studious Debate Class are Gail Madison, Janette Terry, Carol Ottum and Mr. Mahet, advisor. Senior Play The seniors gave three one-act plays this year. They are Sparkin'' written by E. P. Conkle which was a hillbilly comedy; Suppressed Desires , a sophisticated satire by Susan Claspell; Of All Things by Carter Blacksmythe, about family situations.
