JOURNEY THROUGH THE UNIVERSE In the fall of mneteen hundred forty two f1fty three exctted earthlmgs boarded the rocket sh1p School Day Desttnauon Graduatlon 1954 Our space guldes on Planet 1 the f1rst tn the M1l.ky Way were Mrs Armxtage and Mlss Greene who taught us to count the stars from one to one hundred prmt the1r names and where to place them on the Amertcan flag. Mrs wetsmtller and Mrs Wtlhams gu1ded us tn a mustcal operetta for the tnhabttants on Planet 2 Whtle vtsttmg here we were Jolned by planeteers Paul Cleek and B111 Stroberg. Our gutdes took us through Multlphcatton Tower and taught us to read the sund1al We also learned a strange new code called wrxtmg Though we arrxved at Planet 3 rather confused by a new ttme for our recess we were glad that we were moved to the upper deck of our rocket sh1p to study the planetary system Mrs Bateman and Mrs Barrett who dtrected our tour of the planet often had to scrub off smudges of a new fluld called 1nk On Planet 4 our space guxdes were Mtss Wllllams and Mxss J ohnson. Sharon Anderson Mary Lou Scofxeld and Bette Drobmtch who we lost on Planet 3 Jotned us We learned the locat1on of all the stars and moons Now after traveltng so far and feehng much older we dressed 111 the costumes of our ancestors and entertamed the fr1endly hosts of thts planet On October 31 1946 we were seen flylng from Planet 5 on our broomshtps Whtle flytng over the Planet Earth we vistted the states and CHDIIOIS and met J osephme Schaffer who made the rest of our tr1p wxth us Mrs Waldron and Mrs Achztger accompamed us on thts trtp Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of Stardust! La Vern gatned the new name of Speed after runmng a touchdown the wrong way Before gomg to Planet 7 we transferred to a bmgger rocket sh1p and were jomed by Pat Schroeder It took us awhtle to get acquamted w1th our new surroundtngs and om1ss1on of recess but the upper spacemen mitxated and entertained us malung us feel at home. Mrs Karr and Mr Gray started us on our tr1p through the Ltttle Dlpper Wtth Mrs Karr Jotned by Mtss Alexander gu1d1ng us we landed on Planet 8 Here we were honored as a part of the celestlal champ1onsh1p tn athlet1cs The parltamentary procedure was strtctly enforced by the leader of the space patrol Howard Wheeler Names of the spacemen rn our troop whtch now mcluded Frank Boxberger Arden Broletn Tom Mc W1ll1ams and Rtchard Dunn were exchanged for a joyful celebratxon of the Day Before Chrtstmas' On Planet 9 the last mn the L1ttle Drpper Wrlda Gtlbert Lenora Johnson Sandy Maylott and Ronald Orr Jomed us We were allowed to choose the observatxons we thought would help us on future stars M1ss Erdbruegger and Doc Campbell gutded us in our ftrst ass mbly for the members of the Blg Dtpper For our Jumor planeteers we gave a party for whlch we all dressed as cowboys from the planet Earth. - . - .
