Mrs. Alice Cole' X Miss Eastside This year's Miss Eastside con- test was a full variety of enter- tainment. The girls worked very hard preparing for this event. The winners ofthe Miss Eastside contest are judged by the new teachers. They are chosen on talent, poise, and beauty. This year's winners were Miss Sherry Friedel and Miss Debbie Culbertson. The two girls then have the chance to participate for the Miss De- Kalb County title. Sherry sang, "The Wedding Song," as her entry. During her years at East- side she has been an active member in many clubs. She is a member of the Thespian Society, and has acted in many plays. She has also been a Blaz- ette for three years. Debbie's talent consisted of a gymnastic routine done to a piano con- certo. Debbie is the President of GAA, member of National Honor Society, Varsity Cheer- leader, and a member of the OEA club. During her stay at EHS she has been active in all of the GAA sports offered. l l Diane Owsley Miss Eastside: Sherry Friedel Miss Eastside: Debbie Culbertson Lori Resor epresents Gur School 1?- ..... . 4 , ,,,,i, ,- Debbie Culbertson Sherry Friedel SEATED: Lori Resor Diane Owsley STANDINCI Sherry Friedel Debbie Culbertson Cindy Melcbi s TEWW M fgimw: Q if ml a 5 ,W 5 1 P f P j r ' 0 ld H' ty' I I g JSQL' Q. Hi, there baby! Smile Mikel The junior Class started the year out right by making the magazine sales the highest so far at Eastside, with top sellers being lack Allen, Cathy Kern, and janet Culbertson. Another money-making project was the concession stand. With the season being good in both football and basketball the sales were good too. This year most of the boys and girls participated in Booster Block '74. With all the spirit at the games and by decorating the halls, the juniors showed their great spirit throughout the year. The highlight of our year was the prom. The theme was "Old-Fashioned Love Song." The juniors would like to thank Mr. Wagner and Mr. Zonker for making everything they did possible and for making it a very special year. Compliments of ALLEN E. He beats the time with grace and vim And sometimes they keep up with him. But though they're eloquent and snappy Conductors always seem unhappy. Their strange grimaces on the podium Suggest bicarbonate of sodium May be, perhaps, the proper diet To keep their inner Eres quiet. They have to think up countless capers To keep them in the daily papers Which help them in financial strictures Or it them for the motion pictures. In the beginning of the 1973-74 school year the halls of Eastside High School were filled with happiness and excitement from the students of this beautiful school. This year I had several people working with me and they deserve a sincere thanks. Sherry Maloy was my business manager and was in charge of the advertising and selling of the annuals. She and her staff worked very hard to supplement our income. Roberta Wilkerson was my assistant editor and helped after school and gave her free time to help publish this annual. I would also like to thank Donna DePriest, Kim Likes, Susan Dwyer, Ioyce Hook and everyone else who helped with the typing, thinking up captions, and headlines. These girls took time to help, and it was very much appreciated. There were many teachers who helped and also deserve a sincere thanks. Mrs. Hood, the Easterner sponsor, has helped me more than I could have hoped. Thank you for all the advice and cooperation you have given me during the past year. I would also like to thank Mr. Penix for all his help with the photography. Believe me, Mr. Penix, you really pulled me through some tough jams. Thanks to Mr. Williams, we had pictures for the annual. He always set upthe time schedule for the photographer to come, and he always helped us out if we ever needed anything. Mr. Arthur and Don ithe photographerj helped me with the knowledge and the skills I needed to know to publish this annual. Without all these people, I could never have made it. A very special thanks goes to my parents. No one could ever ask for better parents than mine when I needed help. If it hadn't been for them I wouldn't ever have learned responsibility and the initiative to complete this task. I Love You both and thanks for everything. I have enjoyed working with everyone and I appreciated all the help and cooperation that the coaches, teachers, administration and especially the students have given me during the school year. No one realizes how much work it takes to publish a yearbook, but I have enjoyed every minute of it and I will never regret doing it. It takes ALL your time and patience. All I can say is try it once and I guarantee you'll love it. I hope I have given you memories of this past school year in this yearbook. Don't forget your four years in high school, because they are the best years of your life. Good Luck everyone, always and remember this: No day is over if it makes a memory.
