SOLVING WEIGHTY PROBLEMS OVER A CUP OF COFFEE IT LOOKS GOOD SEVEN IN THE CORNER WhB h jk. « grf ANOTHER DOLLAR SHOT McKENNY HALL A college would not be complete without a union, for within this building lies on important segment of a college student ' s education; a seg- ment which receives no mention in scholarship reports but, nevertheless, contributes by helping students get along with each other. Michigan Normal fulfills this requirement in its Charles McKenny Hall, one of the finest student unions for a college of its size in the country. McKenny Hall, built largely by the alumni, is the center of the social life on the campus. The new and modern basement grill, opened last fall, 1950, is a day-long source of new friends, vigorous discussions, humor, and coffee. Adjoining the grill is another haven for friends —the bowling alleys and the poolroom. Even newer than the grill, the five alleys, two pool tables, and the billiard table still retain some of their newness in spite of the almost incessant activity on them. From the swish of formals in the ballroom, the rattle of dishes in the cafeteria, and the echoes of someone making a speech in one of the lounges, to the individual sprawled out on a soft couch in complete relaxation, McKenny Hall hasn ' t changed much since it opened its doors to the college and the community in 1927. 11
