CONCERT BAND The concert band, under the direction of Mr. Best, is made up of the oustanding musicians from both the Girls' Band and Boys' Band. These students, proud of being a part of this group, spend long hours of practice in preparation for the annual Spring Concert. This year's concert, given on March 18, was very successful. Especially pleasing to the audience were Brigadoon, which contains the hit tunes of the very popular Broadway musical, and Tchai- kovsky's Symphony in E Minor, in which the solo horn passages were played by James Stephens. Very entertaining was the novelty number Three Trees, which was directed by Mr. Lindsey, student teacher from Michigan State College. The remainder of the Concert consisted of several stirring marches, and the ever-popular title song Oklahoma Highlights of the evening were the solos by Clio Sanborn, playing the Sousaphone, and Pat Sellhorn on the marimba. Clio's ability has been recognized by his being awarded a first-division rating at the district solo contest in Jackson. l96l
