AVIATION! Around this modern theme we have built our picture of Eastern l-ligh School life. We have chosen this motif, because it represents the modern, up-to-the-minute spirit for which our school is noted. lt points to the success which Eastern l-ligh School graduates have achieved, and symbolizes the progressive goal for which Easternites are striving, With this in mind, we have featured two of our graduates, Clem Sohn and Roger Don Rae, inter- nationally famous in aviation. Another feature of our book, characteristic of all Eastern l-Iigh School life, is its democratic spirit. ln keeping with this spirit we have chosen the word FLY by which to recognize Eastern Seniors. Using the three letters of this word, we have enumerated their activities, thus helping to carry out the theme. To suggest the democratic idea of team work we have, insofar as possible, placed the class officers, teachers, and clubs in informal groups. The views in the opening pages are intended to suggest the friendly democratic atmosphere of our school, We have given special attention to the make-up of the Choir and Band pages, two popular organizations, Likewise, in the club sec- tion, we have used a distinctively new type of page layout. We have adopted the informal grouping of pictures so popular in our present day magazines, and have used circles, ovals, and triangles to give an interesting balance and variety. We have attempted to make the annual a complete record of cur year, AUDREY SUTHERLAN D, Editor. .. .fi - I l I Foreword AUDREY SUTHERLAND Editor-in-Chief MARIE HOLLANDER Business Manager GEORGE HARRIS Advertising Manager
