Don Hill reached a peak per- formance with a no-hitter against Western, but came up with a shoulder injury which left our pitching staff very inexperienced. Cary Hueston turned in an outstanding performance all summer. He was selected All-Conference lst team with a .634 conference average and a .525 season total, and was also chosen Most Valuable Player. fPietured at right, Eastern' placed more players on the All-Conference selections than any other conference school. Don Hill, Craig Foland, and Mark Agness were All-Conference 2nd team. The Comets will definitely miss the spirit and experi- ence of Stan Downing, our shortstop, and Rick McClain, our catcher. The Comet reserves posted a 5-1 season and should be ready to fill the senior vacancies. - Coach Crabtree VAIZQHY IN ACTION EHS EHS EHS EHS EHS EHS EHS EHS EHS EHS EHS EHS EHS A . s l l Taylor 11 Oak Hill 5 Clinton Central 1 Northwestern 5 Maconaquah 5 Taylor 1 Western 0 Oak Hill 9 North Miami 6 Cass 6 Madison Grant 13 Southwood 4 Northwestern 2 First Row: E. They ended the season with a 7-3 reeord. Highlights of the season ineluded winning the Carroll Invitational and having the medley relay team place third in the sectional. Losing three seniors will have an effect on the team, but we hope to better the team ree- ord next year. Allan Harris was voted the most valuable swimmer. l - COACH HERR WC n.',,,,,.,..---1 V 1 ,'.'MM,.,,.,. The Comets had some high points of the year which are interesting considering we will have seven letter-winners back for 1971-72. Steve Crites was our leading scorer for the year with an 18.9 average. He was also our leading rebounder with 13 per game. Craig Foland was selected as the Best Defensive Player of the team and was also bestowed with M.V.P. award by his teammates. CARR Y A SIG youu' wwf An NOPPOR TUNI T Y T0 HELP PERFORM A MIRACLE uvo1ANA uofvs EYE BANK, mc. Medical science has developed means by which it is possible to remove, without disfigurement, the corneas and other tissue from the donated eyes of a recently deceased person and transplant these corneas and tissue to the eyes of living individuals. In many cases, these delicate surgical procedures are capable of restoring sight or of preventing blindness. An eye-bank is a service - a tremendous service which functions in several ways. One function is ob- taining and keeping files of pledges from persons who are willing to donate their eyes at the time of death. Another is the provision of a laboratory to receive the eyes and to aid in their use for transplant and re- search purposes. A third and very important part ofthe service of an eye-bank is the establishment of an organizational structure to carry out all the necessary details in connection with the procurement and delivery of eyes. HOW YOU HAVE 'AN OPPORTUNITY TO HELP PERFORM A MIRACLE 1. Sign a donor registration card and have the other members of your family and your friends sign a card also, Parents or guardians must sign with minor children. Z. Make a personal contribution twhich is tax deductiblej to this worthwhile Lions State Project, 3. Give maximal help in seeing that your community ffknows' about this project and 'does' something about it. THE NEED FOR DONORS A large number of donor pledges are required in order to assure a continuous supply of eyes to the eye- bank. All eye-banks have had need fdr eyes from the time of their founding. The waiting list of recipients has always exceeded the number of eyes received. Contact a Greentown Lion for more information, Decades will pass before the supply of eyes meets the need. Meanwhile, thousands wait in darkness. Sponsored by: Jenkins Studio 'fifxw if 2 1 A .gFNaP -Y -pvg 5 H ' ' K W A ' ' ig -- -xA'1+, 1 - i , , A , - . New .,,,t....-QW t Death is a strange visitor, who eventually calls upon all people. Seldom is he welcome and frequently is unexpected. Occasionally, he fails, even in victory. Such was the case with Andrea Smith. Andy left too much with her friends at Eastern High School. Andy left us her lust for life, her eagerness for tomorrow. Andyls ef- fervescence still bubbles through the halls of E.H.S. Andy's sparkling blue eyes and impish smile are reflect- ed in the faces of those who had the good fortune to know her. Andy was a teen-ager and she played the role to perfection. She developed nuances in her search for reality and identity. She was truthg she was happinessg she was excitementg She was Andy Smith. 1 Death failed with Andy, because her memory is life. Death claimed only the shellg we claim her life! 1,.
