The Student Council helps bring an understanding between the students and the faculty and to help individuals and clubs with their school problems. It is made up of the President and Vice President plus two members from each class except the seniors where three members are chosen. The members are chosen for a term of two years. Our Sponsors are Mr. George McCoy and Mrs. Martha Jarrett. This group has been working hard all year to encourage the rest of the class towards our goal which is our class trip to Washington and New York. We owe a great vote of thanks for their efforts to them. We, the Senior Class, bequeath to: Mr. Wilson, the right to tease whomever he pleases in his study hall. Mrs. Jarrett, the right to pat anyone on the back who is happy. Mr. Sedgewick, the right to have a new heater put in his car. BAND This year as always the Eastern High School Band has been very busy, taking part in Purdue Band Day and the official opening of the new gym. They were host to the 4-Way Festival and ran the coat checking stand at the ball games. The band competed in the District Contest and the Solo and Ensemble Contest. The Eastern High School Robed Choir is made up of select students from the upper three classes of school. They took part in the Formal Opening of the Gym, Spring Festi- val, and the Contests, Solo and Choir. A special group of 16 members of the choir sang at several special occasions. For the first time i n the brief history of the school football was introduced into the program. The Union building school grounds were used for a practice field all season because the gridiron at the high school was not ready for use. Twenty-seven boys reported for practice during the season. The first practice was called on August 22. The nucleus of the 56-57 team should come from these boys. Four games were played with no wins scored. The results were Fairmount B 34, Eastern 19; Kokomo Frosh 26, Eastern 0; Frankfort B 34, Eastern 0; and Kokomo Frosh 12, Eastern 6. Twenty-four boys received minor letters at the Athletic Banquet for finishing the season. The coach for football was Mr. Kistler and he did a fine job. With four games to go, the team had won thirteen and lost three, an exceptionally good record. We defeated Sharpsville and Northwestern at the 4-Way Tourney to bring home the trophy for our new trophy case. The preceding page of pictures shows the boys that will be missed on the hardwood next year; the following pages show the coming Comets. This is the last year that we will participate in the Tri-County Conference. The teams that compose this conference are Bunker Hill, Converse, Clay, Sweetser, Swayzee, North- western, and Western.
