The Junior Blu-Tri is an organization of Freshman and Sophomore girls working
in cooperation with the Senior Blu-Tri. Selling candy, planning clean-up day, decorat-
ing the school for Christmas, and the annual formal banquet, are a few of the
things in which they have participated. At the end of the year, as is the custom, the
Junior Blu-Tri presents a gift to the school.

The Eastern High School Band, under the direction of Mr.
Vernon Crouch. has been very successful this year. They
sponsored an eats stand at the Howard County 4-H Fair to
earn money for trips later on in the year. On Band Day at
the Indiana State Fair the band placed tenth in competition
with seventy other bands from around the state. They are
doing a band show at every home game this year on the
Comet schedule and at some of the more important games
they do special floor shows with clever music and dancing.

The Eastern High School Choir consists of both boys and girls and has proven to be
quite capable. They presented a minstrel show in October. The choir. under the direc-
tion of Mrs. Mower, also presented a Christmas program before the student body.
which was recorded and played over radio station WIOU on Christmas Day. New choir
robes were obtained during the latter part of the first semester. These improved the
appearance of the group and made them a choir for any school of our size to be

Future Farmers
of America
The F.F.A. in this community is an
organization one can be proud to be a
member of. as it is not only a social
club, but it is useful in stimulating an
interest in farming on the part of the
boys in school. Anyone who comes from
a farm or would like to be a farmer
some day likes this organization for
the experience one may obtain as a
part of F.F.A. along with vocational
agriculture.

Activities
Here is a typical, everyday scene in the study
hall-everyone apparently studying when the
teacher is there. But when he leaves you might
think there was a civil war going on with paper
wads and chalk flying through the air and some
kids asking others about their lessons or passing
notes. And to add to the list the teachers have had
a bit of trouble with the new bell system. lt seems
that when the first bell sounded the students thought
it was a warning for conversation. But then what
would a school day be without a bit of liveliness
in the study hall to brighten the day.

Pictured above are the fifteen members of the Aurora Staff. It took a lot of work,
patience, and ingenuity to publish this annual, but with the help of other members

held at night and some of them were held at noon. At these meetings we had a
chance to work together and to help each other.
Seated around the table, left to right, are . . . Leonard Ellis, Tom Middlesworth, Ted

We, the Class of 1954, prepare this annual
in the memory of our beloved Mark Beachy.
Mark met his death on his father's farm dur-
ing the spring of 1952. He was crossing a
bridge on a tractor when it collapsed. As this
time of graduation nears, our thoughts are
sorrowed by his absence. The chain of our
friendship was broken by his heart-rending
death, but the chain of our memories will be
with him throughout our life.

Above you can see some of the action that
took place at some of Eastern's basketball
games. These pictures were taken by some of
our amateur photographers. As is shown here,
the action at most of our games was fast and
exciting, but the Comets did a very good job.
We, the SENIOR CLASS, bequeath to the Junior
