Dr. P. W. Alexander Academic Dean “Hello, how are you” has become the trade mark of East Tennessee State’s Dean. Dean Alexander, who is in his tenth year as dean, never misses a chance to greet students. His cheery words, pleasing smiles and per¬ sonal nod of the head often make a freshman forget his homesickness, ease the worry of a coming exam for a sophomore, erase the problem of a junior or make a senior a little more proud that he is a student at East Ten¬ nessee State. Minds That Help Greeting with a warm smile all who visit her office on the second floor of the Administration Building, Dean Ross characterizes the friendliness of the East Tennessee State administra¬ tion. Despite her full schedule of business and social activities, Dean Ross welcomes any opportunity to become acquainted with the students, whether it be at Panhellenic functions, dormitory meetings, or a casual visit in her office. In Miss Ross may be found a sympathetic friend to whom students may bring their problems. Miss Ella V. Ross Dean of Women

The progress that State has made during the past few years is due partly to his efforts and those of the Board of Edu¬ cation. The Governor appoints the State Com¬ missioner of Education and all members of the Board. The board determines such things as campus policies, budgets, and teacher appointments. Frank G.
