1938 The ‘Buccaneer 31 “C” Club PI KAPPA DELTA (Continued from page 21) Not to be outdone,, however, upper classmen Sabin, Gross, and Belvin, accompanied as always, by their coach, Mr. R. B. Cox, took off ten days in the latter part of April to climax the season with some real line stretching. Westward to Morristown; then northward, and westward again across Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri, and Kansas to—to where? Why Topeka, Kansas, and the Pi Kappa Delta National Convention. On debate the boys won good compartive rating among the 850 tip-top representatives of the 150 colleges and universities in the largest single organization, of its kind, in the world. However, Neil Sabin of last year’s after-dinner speaking fame was not to be contented with average honors, so he entered the Student Stunt Night Contest, with his humorous mountain stories and captured the first place for Teachers College, and a beautiful silver cup for himself. The program was broadcasted over the Columbia Network. Sidelights of the season’s main program, as outlined above, include valuable service ren¬ dered, and valuable experience gained by team members, judging in numerous high school speech tournaments; invitations filled by Sabin, Hunt, and Belvin to speak before local and nearby civic organizations; a large number of schedule debates with visiting and visited colleges; and attendance of team members at intercollegiate debates judged by their coach, Mr. Cox.
