FOREWORD Bound between the covers of this book is contained a biography of the June and August, l943, graduating class of East Technical High School. Here are the pictures of friends and teachers with whom we have spent many happy hours. These associations we shall forever cherish in our hearts. This volume will become more than a' mere record of a graduating class. Soon many of these young men will be in our armed forces, fighting an enemy that is now being fought by more than three thousand other East Technical graduates. We of the Annual staff wish to thank Lowell Watson, Charles Hurst, and Paul Scherer, who have so ably acted as advisors and sponsors. We present this June Bug with the hope that it shall remain as a refreshing memory for these classmates repre- sented here, whose lives are so vitally destined in this Second World War. ll llllllll

i 1 l Y DEDICATION And when Munich came, with the collapse of Czecho- slovakia, Poland, and Greece, and there were bombers over London, war seemed a long way from East 55th Street. But as time passed, John Techite read of nations starved, of communities massacred, of churches burned, and of democracies forced into slavery. When the war came our road was clear. The path was set for over three thousand East Technical graduates who were to enter the combat on land, in the air, and on the sea. Many are the sons of East Tech who have fought the enemy in the fox-holes of Bataan and Guadalcanal. We are proud that they are numbered among those men who never quit. It is to these bearers of the Royal Gold and Brown that we respectfully dedicate this Annual. ll lllllllE
