Senior Athletes CAS1MER POMI A NEK With the graduation of Casimcr, Hast Side will lose one of the best football players that ever attended the school. Casimcr has been an outstanding athlete in our school for four years. In his first three years on the football team he was one of the best linemen in the city. This year Casimcr was changed from a lineman to a fullback, where be became one of the best m the state. Casimcr was also a star on our baseball team. He earned eight varsity letters in four years and was mentioned for All City Honors. HERMAN ENGEL Herman, besides being the most popular boy of our class, became also our star miler. On the track his last minute spurts were something worth watching. He participated in intcrclass basketball and showed himself a better-than-average player. Herman is known as Murph to his fellow-classmates. LESTER PRICE Lester turned his efforts to a national sport, baseball. He played outfield and received more than his share of hits. Last season he was chosen the most valuable player on the team. As a basketball player, he rated as one of our best intcrclass stars. MARTIN TAUB Marty turned out for football in his senior year and so impressed the coach by his ability that he became a varsity player. He played halfback, and many times thrilled us with his left-handed passes. Marty was also a member of our intcrclass basketball team. STEVE MIKULICKA Steve was a versatile player on our football team and was a varsity man for two years. He played end, but this season was shifted to tackle. Steve, who is also a member of the intcrclass basketball team, belongs to the swimming team. On the gridiron, those who also helped to further the name of our school were Anthony Ferrao, Stanley Snigel, Alfred Schmcltz, and Robert Kuchl. We must not forget the efforts of Joseph Kuezko, Alois Klein. Emil Ozimek, and Robert Stahnten. These young men brought glory to our Alma Mater on the cinder track. Bernard Huber. Stanley Gutkowski, Richard Schmidt, and Felix Zelinsky arc also included in this group of fine athletes. Bernard received a letter as a result of fine pitching on the baseball team. Stanley played outfield and did splendid work. Richard and Felix were junior varsity baseball players. Our Alma Mater will miss these worthy, outstanding athletes, and we wish with all sincerity that in the future, they will continue their victories in whatever they undertake. Page Th enty-nine

Class Prophecy On this isle lives Gladys Cicchino A charming friend to find; To write an interesting novel Is the one thought in her mind. We thought we saw Fcrrao At work in a garage. But to our disappointment It was only a mirage. Before we sailed from this gay isle, Mayor Kane stood at his door. And bade us stay in his quaint style; So wc regretted departure more. Our journey was through And for home we did start. With a tear in our eye And an ache in our heart. The renewal of friendship on this trip And acquaintances which we made. And the memory of our sturdy ship I rom our minds will never fade. Each did his part, whether small or great, Through peace and calm, storms and strife. To bring home safe our Ship of State To win their battle, the battle of Life. Chatter Professor Knottymusclc Discusses Idlcmania. Idlcmania is a very contagious disease. It is dreaded mostly by teachers and employers. The victims arc invariably Seniors and Post-Graduates. Idlcmania be- comes more inevitable as time goes by. Those who have this contamination should consult their physicians immediately. The symptoms consist of restlessness and an involuntary twitching of the muscles. The more serious cases complain of an abhorrence to acquiring knowlegc; resent diligence, and despise all mental exertions. The victims arc habitually unconcerned about their associates. Hard work is a very adequate and reliable innoculation for Idlcmania. To those fortunate immune individuals, this infection can be very irritating. Once apprehended by this contagion, the victim can be assured of no explicit cure. Strict discipline and rigid obedience will, however, help to impede this pollution. Chaki f.s Hell wig.
