OUT... ARE ate { Mrs. Helen Waters, who has been at East for one year, is a cafeteria worker. Mrs. Patricia M. Wheeler, born on May 15, has been at East for eight years. She teach- es English: 44-l, 10-C, and 10-H. Mrs. Wheel- er is also a part-time instructor at ICC, a consultant for the National Writing Project, and involved in the National Council of Teachers of English. 30 Faculty “Students should replace inertia with initiative’ Mrs. Patricia Wheeler Mrs. Susan Williams has been teaching Spanish I, Il, and Ill for ten years here at East. She is also in her church choir and co- advisor of Varsity, J.V., and Freshman cheerleaders. She also co-sponsors the Pep Club. Mrs. Williams believes that if you do your best then, “... there’s no need to make excuses ...” Mrs. Jane Wooten, born on December 5, has been teaching at East for six years. She enjoys cross-stitching and candlewicking. She teaches IVE and a business class. Mrs. Betty Wright, born on October 6, East, where she is a librarian’s aide. Mrs. Wright went to Gardner-Webb College for three years. She enjoys reading and has spent fourteen years at art. Mr. Richard Wright, born on June 12, has been teaching for nine years at East. He has received an M.Ed. degree from Con- verse College and he teaches Consumer Math, Geometry, and Calculus. He sponsors the Sportsmen’s Club and is a Senior Spon- sor. Mr. Wright is also a member of the N.R.A. Mr. Tom Wright, born on October 11, has been at East four years coaching football and track. He also teaches Physical Education |, Il, and IV. Mr. Wright, who enjoys golfing, received his B.S. from Appalachian State Univer- sity. Mrs. Betty Yeatts, born on August 9, has” spent eleven years teaching at East. She teaches Physics, Physical Science, and Chemistry. She sponsors fund-raising and class rings for the Junior class. Mrs. Yeatts” enjoys cross-stitching and received an M.A.Ed. from Western Carolina University. :

Ar. David Smith, born October 15, has seen at East six years. He teaches P.E. |, 1dvanced P.E., and coaches Track and Var- ity Football. Coach Smith believes ‘Giving ‘our best effort in all that you do is the reatest achievement you can accom- lish.” ER Mrs. Debbie Bailey Smith, born February 13, joined the staff at East three years ago. She teaches Basic Math, assists with the Student Council, and sponsors the C.I.A. She is a member of the “Generic Singers’, plays softball for Bethel, teaches Sunday School, and enjoys baking. Mrs. Smith’s fa- vorite quote is “He who knows does not speak. He who speaks does not know.” — Lao Tzu. “Those Who Dont Read Have No Advantage Over Those Who Cant.” — Mr. Wall Mr. Tony Smith, born March 2, received his B.S. Biology Degree at A.S.U. and has been at East for two years. He teaches Phy. Sci- ence, Bio. 310, and Bio. 3412. Mr. Smith coaches Freshman Football and J.V. Base- ball and spends his time watching sports. Mrs. Robin Taylor, born December 46, has been at East for one year. She teaches General Math, Pre-Algebra 4-A and be- lieves that “You can’t learn Algebra unless you do your homework.” Mrs. Taylor en- joys horseback riding. LAOV ONDYIVL AV Mrs. Deborah Wall, born September 20, has been at East for ten years. She teaches Eng. 9, Eng. 10, A.P. 12, and sponsors Beta Club and High-Q Team. Mrs. Wall enjoys cross stitch, reading, watching old movies, and is involved with the Lattimore Jr. Women’s Club. Her favorite quote is “If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, it expects what never was and never shall be.” Mr. Frank Wall, born February 25, has been Assistant Principal at East for two years. He received his Masters Degree at W.C.U. and sponsors the bus drivers at school. Mr. Wall enjoys hunting, fishing, shooting, and farming. Faculty 29
