Dance, Dance, Dance ... Homecoming week — A week of excitement at East — provided entertainment, laughs, beauty, spirit and showed artistic and creative talents. The varsity cheerleaders sponsored the annual spirit chain con- test between the homerooms, Mrs. Cremer’s homeroom won first place and were awarded a two hour party. Second place winner was Mr. Wright’s homeroom. The Decorate-A-Door contest, sponsored by the Student Council, was won by the Science-Fiction club. Judged on the basis of creativity and theme, their door (or entire side of mobile unit 2) featured Star Wars; second place “Picture the Raiders Dead” was cre- ated by the Lancer Staff. The assembly program featured skits per- formed by the Pep Club and the Leo Club as well as introducing the nominees for Cavalier Queen and the homecoming contest. Friday was quite a day. Many students needed a lot of extra time to get ready for the parade, pre-game and half-time ceremonies. This was one moment where students involved in activities were legally excuded from classes for the afternoon. Finally, the climax of the week occured when the queens were announced: Pregame show — Cavalier Queen — Lisa Lucka- dee; half-time show — Homecoming Queen — Susan Jenkins. Many students enjoyed the music of Castle at the annual homecoming dance sponsored by the civitans and the history club. Features 189

Let’s Make It Last ... “The Senior Class Sponsor is Su- san Jenkins. She is escorted by Rusty Millwood. Susan’s most em- barrasing moment was when some- one told her Rusty was in Burger King with another girl. She got in her car and drove by Burger King. While staring in the window at Rusty, she hit the car in front of her. Everyone inside exploded with laughter ... And the 1983-84 Home- coming Queen is Susan Jenkins.” Features I9I
