More and more, we are becoming aware of the importance of education in solving our social problems, in strengthening the individual, and in probing into soace . Never before has man known so much about his world nor been so fully aware of the limitations of his knowledge. Our Fresident courageously envisions a Gr eat Society to be shaped by our schools. A tremendous amount of money has been invested in your education. Even more will be spent on those who come after you. The experience of history has shown that nations making such an investment have always prospered. So, inevitably, our own nation, too, will prosper by this new commitment to strong educational support. Your schooling will not end when you leave East Rockaway High School. Like the opening of Olympic games, you are among the first to carry the new torch of learning. You will compete in the great game of life. If you have learned well, and continue to learn you will be among the winners in this greatest of all contests. V e want you to carry this torch proudly and pass it on, ever renewed, so that this Great Society becomes not a dream,but a reality. Go with fond memories and our best wishes. ADMINISTRATION MR. WILLIAM BERG As principal of our school, Mr. Berg has exhibited the strength and administrative leadership representative of a man in his position. His deep concern for every student and his keen interest in all school afFairs has earned him the respect and admiration of the Class of 1966. MR. DOUGLAS SACKMAN As Director of Pupil Personnel, Mr. Sackman is a veritable “jack of all trades.” His duties range from assisting in the guidance of college-bound students to helping maintain the Key Club bookstore. His unceasing energy and interest in all he does are a credit to the administration. MR. FRANK SCHMIDT For the past two years Mr. Schmidt has capably filled the position of Dean of Students of East Rockaway High School. Combining humor with understanding, he fills the position of a good friend as well as a firm disciplinarian.

SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS DR. WILLIAM K. LOUIS The guiding force behind the East Rockaway school system is our superintendent of schools. Dr. William Louis. Taking an avid interest in school activities, he has helped our school to progress to its present standards. His leading role in the administration of our school should be commended.
