THANKS Due to the limitation of space, we have chosen four teachers that we feel have had a great influence upon us and have been of valuable service in our years in the high school. MR. FRANCIS HENRICH Our deepest appreciation is extended towards our Ace ' who has inspired and helped us in many phases of school life. First and foremost an excellent teacher, Mr. Henrich has earned the respect of all who have been under his guidance. Budding chemists and physicists, and even future housewives and mechanics, explored the mysteries and wonders of science with him. We have been helped to understand the best way to solve problems, both of science and of life, through the help of this man. His firm hand and witty humor will always remain with us when we leave school and go into the outside world. His help in Rock Rivalry, school and living rate a great thanks. MR. GERALD HONIG It is very rare that a teacher is able to make so profound an effect in so short a time as Mr. Honig has been able to achieve. As advisor to the ROCK, National Honor Society and Pi Delta Kappa he has made a great impression upon us. His guiding hand was greatly appreciated as we traversed the road through math complexities. His readiness to help in order to avert a crisis in the production of the yearbook was a quality of great value. Always willing to help with any aspect of school life, Uncle Jerry became involved fully in our school after so short a stay. For your understanding, enthusiasm and help we thank you. 7

EAST ROCKAWAY PUBLIC SCHOOLS EAST ROCKAWAY, N. Y. NEVIN L. JUDD Principal - Rhame Avenue School WILLIAM K. LOUIS Superintendent JOHN A. RUCKDESCHEL Principal - Centre Avenue School WILLIAM A. BERG Principal - High School M. DOUGLAS SACKMAN Director - Pupil Personnel High School Class of June, 1964 East Rockaway High School East Rockaway, New York Dear Seniors: You have now reached the point of finishing an important phase of your life and of beginning another. As you look back, a long time ago—some thirteen years—you entered kindergarten. Yet, your education began before then. Your father and mother were your first teachers. They taught you to speak, to read, and to understand. They also taught you to distinguish right from wrong. They had, and still have, your best interests at heart. Since kindergarten your teachers have worked with you to help you prepare yourself for life. They opened doors for you in the arts, sciences, humanities, and communication skills. They were also very much interested in having you develop strong and desirable character traits. As you look back, I hope that you can say that you always gave your best to the task at hand. If you did, you are well prepared for life, and I congratulate you. If you did not give your best, you still have life's lesson to learn. However, it is not too late. You are now on the threshold of many opportunities through which you can improve yourself, and I challenge you to do so. So as you leave East Rockaway High School to pursue your goals in life, always take pride in your work and you will be proud of your accomplishments. Be inquisitive and curious. Be enthusiastic and perseverant. Be systematic and thorough. Always give your best to the task at hand. Best wishes for the future, f £Lu 9 William K. Louis Superintendent
