MR. HENRICH The charred desk tops, the sullied ceiling of room 216, and Mr. Hcnrich's witty aphorisms will always hold a prominent place in “our book of things to remember” for Chemistry and Physics. MR. FORDHAM Mr. Fordham is well known for his excellent musical productions, such as the spring concert and the Operetta. His early morning rehearsals will not easily be forgotten. MISS HICKMAN Term papers, “Kirsch Words,” history reports,—all would be impossible without an efficient library and the able assistance and guidance of our number one librarian, Miss Hickman. MRS. HALFORD Now working on a full-time basis. Mrs. Halford is a familiar face in East Rockaway. With a teaching method all her own, she makes English I interesting with her tales of past experiences. MISS HOLTON Known for her holiday “fiestas and cries of atencion! atencion!, Miss Holton gives her students a well-rounded knowledge of the Spanish language and culture, adding interest and understanding with films and stories. MRS. HEFELE Under the competent eye of Mrs. Hefele, our secretaries of tomorrow receive excellent instruction in the methods and practice of typing and shorthand. MR. FAULKNER Mr. “Smiles” Faulkner can always be found in the gym cither giving Marine physicals or coaching our renowned basketball team. Through his efforts, the men in orange and black are known as athletes and sportsmen throughout the county. MRS. HOPPEN As friendly head of the home economics department, Mrs. Hoppen teaches future housewives how to cope with many household problems including how not to burn french toast.

FACULTY MR. CROWLEY In his second year at East Rock- away, Mr. Crowley adds dignity to the junior high school social studies courses. He also sponsors the seventh and eighth grade springtime athletic programs. MISS BEECH WOOD A newcomer to East Rock- away, Miss Beech wood shows her versatility by aiding both the art and homemaking departments. MRS. CURSON Mrs. Curson is a new addition to the typing faculty and gives a helping hand to all future typists. MR. BERG History is made interesting by Mr. Berg with his varied views, unique tests, humorous anecdotes and stories of historical events. MISS DECKER One of East Rockaway's original “Quiz Kids, Miss Decker kept telling us that advanced math courses were really easy until we “almost began to believe her. Orchids to Miss Decker for her excellent handling of Rock Rivalry and the Student Council. MR. ASCHOFF Mr. Aschoff prepares seventh graders for the more advanced scientific courses in high school. In biology classes, which he also teaches in his own unique manner, he first introduced us to the “little fellows” of the microscopic world. MRS. DAY Mrs. Day, who has taken over seventh and eighth grade mathematics courses, makes her classes interesting by her insight into mathematical problems and by her friendly manner. MISS BROOKSTONE Miss Brookstonc, another new junior high school teacher, helps prepare the seventh graders for the greater responsibility of high school English courses.

MRS. HOWARD In her return as a full time member of the faculty, Mrs. Howard already has re-earned her reputation as a ‘‘top notch” teacher. MRS. LALLY Cheerful, energetic Mrs. Lally is the person who will usually be there with a band-aid or a word to the wise. Her oft-heard call, “You can come down for your hearing test now,” will always seem to be part of E.R.H.S. MR. KALLMAN Mr. Kallman taught us a com- prehensive course in both General Science and Elementary Algebra. He also impressed upon us the importance of neatness and accuracy in all our work. MR. LaMERE Although famous for his sage advice to our driver education classes, such as “Don’t forget to say ‘Bccp-bccp’!,” Mr. LaMcre will be remembered by most for his interesting theory classes, scrapbooks, and his final exams. MR. KENNEDY Known for his mechanical drawing classes and his lively study halls, “Mr. T-Squarc” has grown popular with East Rockaway's boys and girls. MISS LORENZ One of the most admired of all our teachers here at East Rockaway is Miss Lorenz. Her courage and perseverence, an inspiration to all, have won a place for her in the heart of every student. MR. KIRSCH Preparing us for college and the business world, Mr. Kirsch, with his satirical sense of humor is popular for his surprise quizzes and impromptu speeches. MISS McCORD Because of Miss McCord's efforts, not a year passes without a group of winning girls’ teams. Giving every girl the basic rules of girls' sports, she also instructs the girls in the technical skills of these games.
