MRS. SUITS—Those of us who have had Mrs. Suits in junior high realize that math and history can be fun. Her inexhaustible patience prepares the 7th and 8th graders for higher learning. MR. WHEELER—Mr. Wheeler is one of the best-liked members of the staff. This easy-going “prof” has taught us what to do if we get involved in legal problems. MRS. YETTER—With her valuable assistance, we learned the importance of neat penmanship and good grammar. We shall never forget the weekly spelling tests and Mrs. Yetter’s intense dislike for gum-dums.

F A C L U T Y MR. POLLOCK—Mr. Pollock can usually be found in one of two places: the 224 lecturing about Pollock, Louisiana, or in the bowling alleys showing the bowling team the finer points of this game. MRS. REILLY—A favorite eighth grade homeroom teacher, Mrs. Reilly will be remembered for introducing us to the world of literature and giving us a good foundation in grammar. MR. RUCKDESCHEL — “Everyone into homerooms!” Schel announces in stenorian tones at 8:48 each morning. Schel teaches his boys to be master craftsman and is an authority on putting out the ROCK. MR. SACKMAN—“To be or not to be a fireman, English teacher, baseball coach or collector of rare books, which shall it be? That is the question! MISS SCHMIDT—One of the new members of our faculty, Miss Schmidt is better known as the Czarina of the chess league. We hope that her career at East Rockaway will be happy and successful. MRS. SHIMANS—None will forget the art notebooks and the repetition of form taught to us by Mrs. Shimans. Her Confucius jokes, and her pleasant smile will bring us happy thoughts in years to come. 16

Office Where the waiting line for the green room forms, we find our office staff listening to excuses why we were late, writing passes and carrying out the many duties which go to making East Rocka-way efficient. Miss Schempp, Dr. Studwell’s secretary, handles our money for us and Mrs. Settele and Mrs. Sullivan keep the main office running smoothly. Kitchen Cuisine a la East Rockaway is made available in our cafeteria by Mrs. Lass and the ladies of the kitchen staff. They work a long day to provide us with inexpensive, appetizing lunches and equally delicious after school snacks. Custodians Without the aid of the custodians, our school could not maintain the freshly scrubbed look it always has. Through their efforts our cafeteria, gymnasium, classrooms and hallways are kept spotless. When we forget our locker keys, lose an important prop or need a book, Mr. Kasold and his corps are always on hand.
