 1R. HALFORD — Our college days will he made more enjoyable by the informative “help” classes of Mr. Halford. Juggling our programs and advising us on academic problems keeps our guidance counselor busy. MRS. HEFELE — Cries of “Right straight away!” can be heard coming from the shorthand room each day as Mrs. Hefele produces secretaries by the dozen. MR. HEN RICH—As advocate of frequent “snap” testing (“The quiz will cover your questions.”), Mr. Henrich has given us a sound college course in the higher sciences. It is a “pity” we are leaving our “Ace”. MISS HICKMAN—The efficiency of the library stems from the efforts of Miss Hickman and her corps of junior librarians. She has been an invaluable assistant to the writing of our senior papers. MISS HOL I ON—Spanish classes invariably begin with the famous cry “Las victimas . . .” Miss Holton, the master of many tongues, ably prepares her students for the regents. MRS. HOPPEN—The “Betty Crocker” of East Rockaway has done a great deal to mold us into the homemakers and seamstresses of tomorrow. F A C u L T Y 13

9 MR. ASCHOFF—The world of “little friend amoeba” was introduced to us by Mr. Aschoff. We shall remember his subtle sense of humor, his twinkling blue eyes and his emphatic snap of the ruler. MR. BERG—“Ok folks; let’s check out the next item on the agenda.” No history student could forget those words! Famous for his early morning jokes, Mr. Berg strived to make us clear-thinking citizens of a free society. MR. CROWLEY — The varsity bowlers acquired another coach with the coming of Mr. Crowley. Teaching the intracacics of math and English to the junior high is his official duty. MISS DECKER—a'-+b2=c2. Chalk one up for our Math coach! Miss Decker implants in our minds the teaching of her thirteen mathematical men, commands the chalk army, and is the person to whom the success of Rock Rivalry is owed. MR. FAULKNER — Mr. Faulkner always found in the gym foyer selling the stylish boys’ athletic attire, is a teacher extraordinaire. Through his efforts his gentlemen in orange and black are known as athletes and sportsman throughout the league. MR. FORDHAM—We will long remember those sleepy, early morning, and late evening rehearsals. No matter what the obstacles were, Mr. Fordham and his chorus always managed to produce a top notch show.

F A C u L T Y MR. KALLMAN—A brilliant mathematician and science teacher, Mr. Kallman has helped us develop good study habits through his term reports, notebooks and interesting method of instruction. MR. KENNEDY—In addition to instructing the future draftsmen and architects in mechanical drawing, Mr. Kennedy is the line coach for the football team. MR. KIRSCH — Who can forget “Kirsch Words”? The man with the bow tie, words of wisdom about the Senior play and that delightful sense of humor is Mr. Kirsch, senior English teacher. MR. LA MERE—With nerves of iron, Mr. LaMere literally risks his life daily to teach us how to drive safely. We shall remember his galoshes and his encouraging remark, “You can look now.” MRS. LALLY—Energetic Mrs. Lally, ever willing to lend a hand to a “Rock Casualty” has inspired many girls toward the rewarding career of nursing. MISS LORENZ—Many words could be written about “Renzie’s” warm, wonderful smiles; yet none of them would suffice. Her expert leadership and advice have made the “Gull” the tremendous success that it is. 14
