She has always worked willingly with our art staff, giving her expert advice as to its quality, and has always been ready to give suggestions to improve what the staff has drawn. Berg presented a clear pics ture ol the facts and stressed the need for free thinking. MISS DECKER-With her easy-going manner and vivid imagination, she taught us the basic law of mathematics--URely on Pythagorusf, MR. FAULKNER - 0ur versa- tile gym teacher is always willing and able to instruct- whether it be football techniques or ball- dancing. MR. FORDHAIVI--Thanks to Mr. Fordham and his magic ba- ton, our choruses always present- ed outstanding programs, and received high ratings in compe- tition. MRS. GOTTFRIED - A future secretary's best friend is a teacher lilce Mrs. Gottfried r- personality plus, tops in typing and super in shorthand. IWR. HALFORD - Along with advising us with our curricula, he always found time to offer his expert advice, MR. HENRICH -- It's no t SNAP! J2 to say goodbye to our chem and physics prof, but Hour hands are tied. MISS HICKMAN - Through- out the years her helpful guidance and efficiency enabled us to lo- cate the boolcs we needed. MISS HOLTON - Through her teaching methods, she imparted her vast knowledge of Spanish culture and language to her students. fl FACULTY MRS. HOPPEN-As head of the Home Making Department, she instructs the girls in the art of cooking and sewing, and how to hecome good homematcers. MR. KALUVIAN - A teacher of general science and atgehra, Mr. Kattman keeps his students on the halt. MR. KENNEDY-One of our new teachers twith the red hair, who may he found either in the txtechanicat Drawing room or as tine coach on the foothatt field. MR. KIRSCH r- An advocate of good English and lord of the lunchroom, Nh. Kirsch was at- ways ready and willing, whether it he advice on our term paper or direction of the Senior play. MRS. LALLY-A soother of our hurts' and cheerer of our spir- its, Mrs. Latty serves as an in- spiration to future nurses. MR. LA MERE-With his nerves of steel and complete calmness, he instructed us in the art of sate driving. MISS LORENZ-Warin, pa- tient and understanding Miss Lorenz, defender of the GULL. taught us English and acquainted us with one of her pet inter- jections, uanyhootn MISS MCCORD- Famous for Posture Month and her reduc- ing exercises, she has aptly taught us the rules of good sportsman- ship. MRS. MESKE - With her charming manner and wonderful stories, she is always ready to help her students understand French and Latin languages and culture. MISS MURPHY-Besides de- voting the 9th period to helping her students master the more dif- ficult points of English, Miss Murphy also deciphers Junior High GULL assignments. MISS PALMER - A newcomer of one year who has formed a detinite opinion ot Long lsland weather, she teaches shorthand and typing in such a way to malce them interesting and fun. MR, PELLICANE - Although he has only heen with us a short time, hand memhers have touncl him anxious to help those wishing to further their study ot music. AIR. PLUNKETT-Has a meth- od all his own tor teaching juni- or high social studies, and this method gives his students the hasis they will need tor senior high history. lWR. PCJLLOCK -d A teacher of history and adviser to our Bowl- ing Squad, he is is often heard stating Ha hag ot peanuts it you top my score. MRS. REILLY-VVl1en a stu- dent has completed English foundation with lVlrs. Reilly, he is prepared for greater achievef ments in Senior High School. FACULTY MR. RUCKDESCHEL - We will always rememher uSchel, our sharp-witted shop teacher, his impossihle-to-pass car inspection, and the help he has given us on our yearhoolc. MR. YETTER - SIN- heiped us realize the im-- portance of language skills and careful planning of our high school program. ' 4 is 5 ,-..5 ACULTY -as-, di- 0 Kitchen Staff Many chefs do not spoil the hrotht and this is proven to the fullest hy our kitchen staff whose joh it is to prepare delicious and inexpensive lunches. We always found hot soup, tasty sandwiches and nourishing dinners wait- ing for us at lunch time, and the smell of fresh cakes hairing in the ovens often enticed us to an after-school snack. Custodians How could East Rockaway High School manage without them? Every member of our janitorial staff was more than willing to help out '- Above and beyond the call of duty. The custodians were always there, ready to open a locker hecause of a forgotten key, or to help us locate lost Rock Rivalry props. Besides keeping our school spic and span, the custodians have always heen our friends. Office Staff Efficiency is their middle name. Our office staff, composed of Mrs. Sullivan and Mrs. Setteie, carry out the husiness and the paper work of East Rockaway High School in the best ways possible. Mrs. Sullivan commands the main office while Mrs. Setteie, in the inner office, is Dr. Bormann's secretary.
