Q0 HI-Y . . . is a youth club affiliated with the Young Men's Christian Association. It is international in scope, having chapters all over the world, sponsored by the Y. M. C. A. World Service program. As its purpose clearly states, Hi-Y is built around the idea of service to the school, church, and community. Under the competent guidance of Mrs. Dorothy Meske, the members of the Hi-Y have displayed this idea by sponsoring a very successful Sadie Hawkins Dance and by preparing baskets of food for needy families. At Christmas time they help to promote the Yuletide spirit by decorating the classrooms and the foyer. The Hi-Y officers are: Maria Sepcich, Presidentg Nancy Haynes, Vice- presidentg Patricia Gregory, Secretary, and Joan Malmquist, Chaplain. MODERN MISS . . . This club functions under the capable instruction of Mrs. Frederick Hoppen. Affiliated with the Future Homemakers of America, its purpose is to advance girls in needlework, cooking, and other domestic skills. This year's officers are: Elaine Gorr, President, Evalyn Lou Stark, Vice-presi- dentg Catherine Bird, Secretary, and Maureen McGoldrick, Treasurer. 21 1. f filly ,I , ,, 7. ff, A , - ,X A 3' 474, ik., f f af f 4 y W ,KL ,fi 4 i Jlifv Y ' '- L ' n X 5 4, l,., xii fl '7 . ,-A ., , Ji R Y, A A ' ' krvilcxx ,pu f, V FQJEQ .gfak !

STUDENT COUNCIL . . . Parliaments, Congresses, Assemblies, Councils- these are representative bodies of the people and the peoplels will. They are the debaters, the law-makers, the guiding hands of the great World machine called Government. What better way is there to prepare to face this responsibility of self- government than through its counterpart, our own Student Council. Here, under the leadership of Seniors, Carole Niddrie, President, Maria Sepcich, Leon Harris, and Steve Miller, the Student, Council discusses the problems of the Student Body in a democratic fashion, and seeks to improve the position of the students in the school. 5 umemv funn- P Q., Q ..... . iff Q H 1 aim 557 gf f M X nu 7f-AZ,-5 y SERVICE SQUAD . . . Ziwafgjuw FORUM ROMANUM . . . The Latin Club, under the direction of Mrs. Dorothy Meske, has had another year of inductions, meetings and parties. Composed of students who have either taken Latin for two years, or have gotten over a ninety per cent average in Latin I, the Latin Club represents a sort of Latin Honor Society. The officers for this year are: Robert Parker, President, Richard Jacobsen, Vice-President, Nancy Haynes, Secretary, Mary Lou Ginder, Treasurer. For years the mispronunciation of such well- known French phrases as Parlez-vous francaise? has been the password dis- tinguishing French students. However, at French Club meetings Mrs. Dorothy Meske has endeavored to teach the members how to speak French more fluently and with less self-consciousness. French ofhcials may change, but the French Club's have remained the same this year. Robert Parker is President, Maureen Sutherland, Vice-president, Adrienne Coe, Secretary, David Thomas, Treasurer.
