THE 1953 RGCK
DEDICATED TO
MISS GERTRUDE DECKER
......,,for her endless efforts to help our class over the
past four years in her capacity as Class Adviser.
Her constructive criticisms of Rock Rivalry en-
trances, her practical suggestions on the matter of earn-
ing and spending class money, and her "words of wis-
dom" which often settled debates in class meetings, are
but a few of her services to us.
In other fields, Miss Decker also played prominent
parts. Cheer-leading coach and mentor of the Riding
Team are among her services.
As elementary Algebra and Social Studies teacher,
she has aided many scholastically.
Her cheerful attitude and friendly greeting made
her a great friend of ours.
From the Class of 1953 to you, Gertrude Decker,
come our heartfelt thanks and friendship.

.,.,..,.chosen as this year's operetta by musical director
Henry Fordham, proved to be one of the musical high-
lights of the year.
Situated in Venice, the story deals with the search
for a missing king. In his absence, two Gondoliers,
Marco and Guiseppe, assume the royal robes. Casilda,
betrothed to the King from childhood, has fallen in love
with a drummer-boy, Luis. The crisis grows graver when
the two boatmen marry.
The King's childhood nurse, Inez, appears late in
the tale and provides a happy ending by disclosing that
Luis, the drummer-boy, is the actual King.
This presentation was enlivened by the Duke and
Duchess of Plaza-Toro, the impoverished parents of
Casilda.
Many thanks, Mr. Fordham and your music depart-
ment, for such wonderful entertainment.

FOCTBALL
, the perennial fall classic, suffered this year
through a lack of experience and size.
Switching from the familiar single wing
to the novel split-T formation, the boys re-
quired much "skull practice" before the opener
on September 22.
Never dampened by defeat, this spirited
crew was co-captained by Connie Decker and
Bob Smith.
In the words of their coach, Mr. Nevin L.
Judd, "-Though handed a loss on Saturday,
they were always out there Monday afternoon,
gunning for that next one!"
