LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT You Don’t Hare to Know the Language” Spanish, french, and Latin are the three languages that E. R. H. S. offers students. The masters of these languages. Miss Lillian Tobin and Mrs. Dorothy Meske, do much to make the romance languages interesting by providing classes and club meetings with much laughter, along with hard work. No! That's not the “Mad Scientist” and his two merry assistants. It’s Mr. Hermanson, better known as Herm, East Rockaway’s physics-chemistry teacher. Miss Myers, the school nurse, and Mr. Aschoff, the school biologist. This threesome make up our Science Department and can answer questions involving anything from halitosis to malatosis. PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT Rugged But Right” Left to Right. Miss E. McCord, Mr. N. Judd, Miss J. Davis. High on the scale of any school is its athletic department. This department is well taken care of by Miss Davis in the grade schools, and Mr. Judd and Miss McCord in the boys’ and girls’ sports respectively. The latter two select the varsity and honor teams and successfully guide them to victory. BUSINESS DEPARTMENT Patience and Fortitude” The Business Department is under the efficient guidance of Mr. Halford and Mrs. Hefele. These two teachers have helped us better ourselves for our future years by teaching us shorthand, typing and business training. Mr. Halford has also been a great help to us in the guidance department. We shall never forget the tireless effort that they have given us.

Left to Right: Mrs. M. Lee, Dr. H. Bormann. OFFICE STAFF Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen We rate a high score for our indispensable duo. Dr. Bor-mann and Mrs. Lee. Without their guidance we would have floundered bewilderedly up the scale of our high school career. They’ve made us mind our sharps and flats, directed our faltering feet, and worried over us constantly. We strike the highest chord in our gratitude, appreciation, and thanks to these two friends. Left to Right: Dr. H. Studwcll, Miss C. Schempp. Through Dr. Studwell’s and Miss Schempp's hard work and tireless efforts, we have finally reached the top of the scale, Graduation. No one can look back on East Rockaway without thinking of our Superintendent and his humorous stories, or his efficient secretary and her unequaled school spirit. They have truly formed the G cleff of our scale. SCHOOL CUSTODIANS Keep Smiling at Trouble” As the school day ends, the real work of this staff begins. They force the heat up early in the morning, patch up the broken windows, open lockers, and clean up the overflow from packed lockers and desks.
